HOW TO CHANGE CESSNA & PIPER FUEL CAP SEALS
PA-28, PA-32, CESSNA 100 SERIES, CESSNA 200 SERIES (NON-FLUSH STYLE CAPS)
• When performing any inspection or maintenance on the powerplant, propeller or that requires turning on the master switch, or pulling the propeller through by hand; treat the propeller as if the ignition switch were on. DO NOT stand, nor allow anyone else to stand, within the arc of the propeller as a loose or broken wire or component malfunction could cause the propeller to rotate.

STEP 2
• When you have finished viewing this presentation, go to the Cessna Fuel Cap Parts or Piper Fuel Cap Parts page on our website to find the proper fuel cap parts for your aircraft.

STEP 3
• Remove fuel cap from fuel tank and inspect the rubber seal for dry rot and damage.
If dry rot or damage is found, do the following:

STEP 4
• After the fuel cap is removed, place a clean cloth over the fuel tank opening to prevent debris from entering into the tank.

STEP 5
• The seal can be replaced without any disassembly of the cap.• Stretch the seal over one of the two locking tabs and remove the seal.

STEP 6
• At this time, inspect the slider ring and vent valve. The vent valve should be soft and intact. If the valve or slider ring is damaged, contact your maintenance personnel for replacement of these items.
• Verify that the vent path is clear (PA-28 & PA-32) by inserting a small piece of stiff wire through the path.
