--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18. If you have not used iFolder3 before or do not have any iFolders/files on the

iFolder3 server: Select Browse and browse to the path to the folder on your computer that you want to be synchronized with the iFolder3 server and be your default iFolder, normally My Documents, as in the example to the right below. Click OK and then

19. Select Finish:

22. If you have used iFolder3 before and have iFolders on the iFolder3 server:

Uncheck Download Default iFolder, and select Next:

24. If you have used iFolder3 before and have iFolders on the iFolder3 server, you will now see them on the server, as this example shows:

25. Now merge the iFolder Local Folder on the server with C:/Local Folder (My Documents) on

15(19)

27. Wait for synchronization with the server. If you get a message about Action

required… you may have to select which version of a specific file you want to save.

When finished, it says Idle… in the lower left and Synchronized… in the Status

column, as in this example:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 28. Note: Please verify now, and later when needed, that the synchronization is

complete and correct, by logging in to the iFolder3 server http://ifolder3.hj.se Client

Software/Web Access Compare the files on the server with the files in your local

iFolders.

29. You can manage the iFolder settings, e.g. how often to sync, by a right click on the yellow iFolder3 icon in the system tray:

and select Preferences.

Guide on how to use iFolder 3.8:

http://www.novell.com/documentation/ifolder3/ifolder38_user/?page=/documentation/ifolder3/ifolder38_user/data/bookinfo.html

Important!

For the synchronization to work properly, the following four conditions must be fulfilled:

The iFolder client must be activated.

16(19)

Your computer has to be connected to the Internet.

The iFolder server must be accessible.

You have to be logged on to the iFolder server.

Version check

Current client version (2011-09-30) of iFolder3 is 3.8.0.8. Right click the iFolder icon in

the system tray, and choose About to check your client version

.

If you have another client version than the one stated above: restart your computer and check again. If you still have another version, contact Helpdesk: http://helpdesk/hj.se

Password

If you have changed your Novell password, you will be asked to enter the new password

when iFolder has started, as in the example below. Check Remember password on this

computer.

Synchronizing

17(19)

The easiest way to check if the computer synchronizes your files with the iFolder3 server is to

check if the files in your iFolders on your computer are identical to those on the server. Log

in to the server on ifolder3.hj.se, Client Software/Web Access/iFolder3.

You should also check, by right clicking on the iFolder icon in the system tray and selecting

Preferences, that Automatically Synchronize iFolders is selected.

Also check in the Synchronization Log that the sync works, as in the pictures below.

18(19)

Create a new document and save it in an iFolder on your computer, like My

Documents. Then close the document. Now check in the Synchronization Log that

the file is discovered and uploaded.

Non-Western-European characters

iFolder is unable to handle some non-Western-European characters, e. g. Cyrillic. The synchronization does not work properly if files or folders contain such characters.

19(19)

Home directory (G:) is standard for storage

iFolder is a tool for synchronization of files on your computer and the iFolder server. It is a good tool, but it does not offer the same security as storage in the home directory. For that reason, make sure that important files are stored in your home directory.
