INTRODUCTION There are over sixty active student groups at Westchester Community College. With a wide range of offerings, there is something for everyone. Becoming an active member in clubs/organizations is a great way to meet new friends, learn a new hobby, expand your understanding of an area of study, explore new cultures and make a positive impact on the community! HOW TO JOIN A STUDENT CLUB/ORGANIZATION The easiest way to join a student group is to attend one of their meetings. Many groups will meet during the Common Hour held Wednesdays from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. No classes are held during Common Hour as the college reserves this time for student events and club meetings. Each student group is assigned a meeting room during Common Hour to make it easy to gather. However, several clubs meet outside of this time. One of the best ways to find out when a club is meeting is to contact the Advisor (the faculty, staff or administrator who serves as a resource to student groups). A complete list of active student groups, with their Common Hour meeting location, and Advisor's name and email can be found in this packet. You can also attend the bi-annual Involvement Fair. This event is held at the beginning of each semester. Representatives from recognized student groups will be present to talk about their club/organization and how you can join. Look out for announcements and emails about this can't miss event! If you have an idea to start a new student club or organization, you can make it happen. Visit www.sunywcc.edu/clubs to learn how. TO LEARN MORE ABOUT GETTING INVOLVED To learn more about getting involved on campus stop by the Department of Student Involvement, located in the Student Center Room 108.
