Ambition Provides

Approaching 80% CO2 emission reduction by the application of Deep Eutectic Solvents (DESs)

• Common development of the technology

• Europe-wide application

Provides

PROcesses for Value added fibres by Innovative Deep Eutectic Solvents

Objectives

Develop radically new, sustainable and techno-economically feasible pulping technologies for industrial wood and agro-based lignocellulose raw materials based on natural DESs

• Pulping with lignin dissolving DES

• Pulping with cellulose dissolving DES

• Removing contaminants with DES

Page 5: How to join and benefit from the provides project?

• Pure cellulose, lignin and hemicellulose

• Low cost

• From different sources (wood, straw) Tailor made fibres depending on DES mixtures

Dissolving lignin

• Recovery of pure cellulose from papermaking residues

• Low cost Clean dissolved pulp or building block for bio chemicals, materials or fuels

Dissolving cellulose

Dissolving ink and other contaminants

Scope

Page 6: How to join and benefit from the provides project?

Objectives

• Select suitable DESs

- Develop the theoretical framework for fast screening of DESs

- Develop understanding of extraction kinetics

• Develop recovery protocols

• Integrated process design and evaluation

• Develop and explore exploitation parameters

New partners

Any new industrial partner from the European pulp and paper industry is welcome to join the project under the same conditions as the other partners

• after official agreement in the General Assembly

• conditions: 40 kEuro in-cash + 40 kEuro in-kind

Cooperation

Activities • Scientific work: TU Eindhoven, CTP, VTT, University of Twente and

University of Aveiro • Work packages: co-chaired by industry to ensure industrial steering

towards applicability of the results • All industrial partners take their share of the industry- and application

oriented work and contribute equally • Pöyry assists with the DES business case IP • All results are shared and potentially owned by all partners • Within the scope of the project: No partner can have non-accessible

IP that blocks other partners from applying the results
