How to make green pancakes
This is how we do it in our house – yum!
Supplies needed
• Blender
• Ingredients
• Flat surfaced pan for cooking
• Spatula
• Plate for serving
• Syrup
Ingredients list
• Two eggs
• 1 ¾ cups milk
• ¼ cup cooking oil
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 4 teaspoons baking powder
• 2 Tablespoons sugar
• 2 cups flour
• 1 handful fresh spinach
Procedure
• Place all ingredients into the blender
• Blend until smooth consistency
• Heat pan on medium high with a light coat of oil
• Pour pancake batter into pan slowly until you reach the size pancake you desire.
• When the surface of the pancake is full of bubbles, carefully flip the pancake over.
• Cook for about 30 seconds more then turn the pancake out onto the plate for serving
Syrup
• Syrup can be purchased or made
• To make syrup you will need 2 cups of sugar, one cup of water, and 1 teaspoon of flavor such as maple.
• Boil water and sugar until sugar melts, then one to two minutes longer.
• Add in one teaspoon of flavoring, serve while hot
Add-ons or changes
• Children will not be able to taste the spinach but may still enjoy some toppings.
• Toppings may include: sprinkles, whipped cream, fruit, or nuts
• Pink pancakes can be made by blending in one small roasted beet in place of the spinach, may require the addition of honey to cover the beet taste
