How to override the visibility and graphic display of specific elements in Revit?

Many a times design and construction professionals who work on Revit projects feel the need of overriding the visibility and graphic display of specific elements in a view so that they can perform the task of design development accordingly. There could be various reasons for overriding the visibility and graphic display of individual elements in a view such as hiding an element from viewing it in the view or showing an element in the view etc.

Revit users can override view-specific visibility as well as graphic display of the elements selected by them. Line work tool can also be used by Revit users for overriding graphic display of individual elements.

Process of overriding visibility and graphic display of elements o For overriding the visibility and graphic display of individual elements Revit users

are required to open the view in which they want to override the graphic display of element.

o After this Revit users are required to right click on the element in the drawing area whose visibility they want to override.

o Once the element is right clicked by users they are then required to click ‘Override Graphics in View’ option and then select By Element option.

o By clicking on ‘By Element’ option the View-Specific Element Graphics dialog opens in front of Revit users.

o The View-Specific Element Graphics dialog box helps Revit users in showing the current settings for visibility and graphic display of the element in question.

o For viewing setting details Revit users many need to expand the categories. o After this Revit users are required to make some edits in the View-Specific Element

Graphics dialog. o There are various options that are available within View-Specific Element Graphics

dialog such as Visible, Halftone, Projection Lines, Surface Patterns, Surface Patterns, Cut Lines and Cut Pattern and users are required to edit the values for these options.

o Once any one of the above option is edited by users they are required to click ‘Apply’ for implementing the edited value.

o When every option is edited users are required to click ‘OK’ which finishes our process.
