How to Ride¿Como Usarlo?

• LeeTran’s bus routes are numbered and shown on the map in different colors.

• Locate on the map your starting point, your destination and the bus route(s) closest to them.

• Choose the appropriate bus schedule, showing departure times from major landmarks.

• Decide when you want to arrive at your destination, then work backward to determine when you need to catch the bus.

• Locate a LeeTran bus stop sign on the same side of the road as the direc-tion in which you want to travel. Stand near the sign, so the driver knows that you want to catch the bus.

• Arrive at your bus stop at least five minutes before your departure time.

• Have your fare or pass ready, and enter the bus at the front door.

• If you have difficulty stepping on or off the bus, ask the driver to make the bus “kneel” to curb level. All LeeTran buses and trolleys have wheelchair ramps or lifts, and tie-downs. The driver will assist you.

• If you are entitled to a reduced fare, please have your ID ready.

• Onboard, signal for the bus to stop either by pulling the cord or pressing the strip along the windows at least one block before your desired stop.

• Leave the bus by the rear door and do not cross in front of the bus after disembarking.

• Use LeeTran’s easy online TripPlanner to map your trip at www.rideleetran.com.

LeeTran has served county residents and visitors since 1977. It currently operates 22 bus routes and two trolley routes, covering more than 400 miles of roadway. Transit IDIdentificaciones de Transporte

LeeTran ID cards enable people 65 years of age or more, people with disabilities, and full-time students to ride at a reduced fare. Photo ID cards are made at the Rosa Parks Transportation Center, 2250 Widman Way, Fort Myers, at a one-time cost of $1.00. Seniors must show proof of age; persons with disabilities must show medical certification; and students must show proof of enrollment.

Each LeeTran route has a brochure-sized schedule that includes a map of the route and arrival times at major locations. (The bus makes more stops along the route than those listed.) The schedule may also contain separate timetables for weekday and weekend trips. You can pick up the schedules you need at the Rosa Parks Transportation Center, public libraries and many other locations, or on our website, www.rideleetran.com.

LeeTran invites you to take your bike along for the ride to work, school, or just for fun. Every bus is equipped with a bike rack on the front which accommodates up to two bikes. The racks are easy to use, and your bike rides free! Riders are responsible for loading and securing their bikes and unloading them from the racks.

Trolley ServiceServicio de Tranvía

LeeTran operates a trolley route connecting the mainland to Estero Island and Fort Myers Beach. During the peak tourist season from January to April, there are two trolley routes: the Beach Park & Ride (Route 490) and the Beach Trolley (Route 410). During the rest of the year, these are merged into a single route, Route 400. The time-tables also change seasonally.

Riders can get real-time information by downloading the Transit app on mobile devices. FREE parking is available at the Beach Park and Ride, corner of Pine Ridge Road and Summerlin Square Drive. FREE seasonal service is offered on the Ft. Myers Beach Tram (Route 420) and the Downtown Ft. Myers River District Trolley (Blue and Gold Lines).

Please refer to individual bus schedules for the fare on that route. Please be prepared to pay the exact fare. Drivers do not make change. Once a fare has been deposited in the farebox, it cannot be retrieved. Fares must be paid when boarding the bus.

Discounts: Passengers age 65 and over, disabled persons, and full-time students are eligible to ride at half fare with a LeeTran identification card. Please show the driver your LeeTran I.D. before paying the fare. Acceptable forms of identification are a Medicare card or LeeTran photo I.D. Pre-school children (under 42 inches) ride free with an adult.

A paratransit service called Passport is available for those whose disabilities make it impossible for them to use a regular bus. Passport operates in the same service area, during the same hours, and on the same days as regular route bus service. A certification process is required; to obtain an application or additional information, call the Passport office at 239-533-0300 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
