Amen.

The Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary (Monday and Saturday)1. The Annunciation of Gabriel to Mary( Luke 1:26-38)-In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel

was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, ofthe house of David and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, “Hail, favored one!The Lord is with you.” But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greetingthis might be. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be greatand will be called the Son of the Most high, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David hisfather, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom there will be no end. But Marysaid to the angel, “how can this be, since I have no relations with a man? And the angel said to her inreply, “The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; fornothing will be impossible for God.” Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it bedone to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.Think of the humility of the Blessed Virgin when the Angel Gabriel greeted herwith these words; “Hail full of grace”. Meditate on humility. Seek smallness;become a servant.

2. The Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth (Luke 1:39-56) During those days Mary set out andtraveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah andgreeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, andblessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord shouldcome to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my wombleaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would befulfilled.”

The Canticle of Mary. And Mary said: My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices inGod my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now and will all agescall me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is fromage to age to those who fear him. He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind andheart. He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has

filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped Israel his servant, rememberinghis mercy, according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants forever. Maryremained with her about three months and then returned to her home.Think of Mary’s charity in visiting her cousin Elizabeth and remaining with her for the three months justprior the birth of John the Baptist. Meditate on charity. Share the charity of love from your heart, theLove of God.

3. The Birth of Our Lord (Luke 2:1-21) In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustusthat the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment when Quirinius was governor ofSyria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from thetown of Nazareth to Judea to the City of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the houseand family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they werethere, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped himswaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now therewere shepherds in the region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock. The angelof the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were truck withgreat fear. The angel said to them. “ Do not be afraid, for behold, I proclaim to you good news of greatjoy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who isMessiah and Lord. And this will be a sign for you; you will find a n infant wrapped in waddling clothesand lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favorrests.”

The Visit of the Shepherds. When the angels went away from them to heaven, the shepherds said to oneanother, “Let us go, to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place which the Lord has made knownto us. So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When theysaw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it wereamazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting onthem in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard andseen, just as it had been told to them.Think of-The poverty, so lovingly accepted by Mary when she placed the Infant Jesus, our God andRedeemer, in a manger in the stable of Bethlehem. Meditate on the omnipotent power of God. Richesand “things” are of nothing to God.

4. The Presentation of Our Lord (Luke 2:22-38) When the days were completed for theirpurification according to the law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to theLord,” and to offer the sacrifice of “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,” in accordance with thedictate in the law of the Lord”. Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This manwas righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the holy Spirit was upon him. It hadbeen revealed to him by the holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Messiah ofthe Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus toperform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying:“Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seenyour salvation, which you prepared in sight of all the peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, andglory for your people Israel.”Think of Mary’s obedience to God’s Law: She presented the Child Jesus in the Temple. Meditate onobedience. Do we present ourselves at Mass and Adoration, as we should?

5. The Finding of Our Lord in the Temple (Luke 2:41-52) Each year his parents went toJerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to thefestival custom. After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remainedbehind in Jerusalem but his parents did not know it. Thinking he was in the caravan they journeyed fora day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding him they returned toJerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of theteachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at hisunderstanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished, as his mother said tohim, “Son why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with greatanxiety.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in myFather’s house?” But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and cameto Nazareth and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesusadvanced (in) wisdom and age and favor before God and man.Think of the deep sorrow and concern with which Mary sought the Child of Jesus for three days, and thejoy when she found Him safe in the midst of the doctors of Temple. Meditate on being separated fromGod. Open the door to your heart; walk with Him, always!

The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary (Tuesday and Friday)1. The Agony of Our Lord in the Garden (Matthew 26:36-56) Then Jesus came with them to a

place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” He tookalong Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to feel sorrow and distress. Then he said to them,“My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch with me.” He advanced a little andfell prostrate in prayer saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will.” When he returned to his disciples he found them asleep. He said to Peter, “So youcould not keep watch with me for one hour? Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. Thespirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Withdrawing a second time he prayed again, “My Father if it isnot possible that this cup pass without my drinking it, your will be done!” Then he returned once moreand found them asleep, for they could not keep their eyes open. He left them and withdrew again andprayed a third time saying the same thing again. Then he returned to his disciples and said to them, “areyou still sleeping and taking your rest? Behold, the hour is at hand when the Son of Man is to be handedover to sinners. Get up, let us go. Look, my betrayer is at hand”.

The Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus: While he was still speaking, Judas one of the Twelve, arrived, accompanied by a large crowd, with swords and clubs, who had come from the chief priest and theelders of the people. His betrayer had arranged a sign with them, saying, “The man I shall kiss is theone; arrest him.” Immediately he went over to Jesus and said,” Hail, rabbi!” and he kissed him. Jesusanswered him, “Friend do what you have come for. Then stepping forward they laid hands on Jesus andarrested him. And behold, one of those who accompanied Jesus put his hand on his sword, drew it, andstruck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his ear. Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into itssheath, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Do you think that I cannot call upon myFather and he will not provide me at this moment with more than twelve legions of angels? But thenhow would scriptures be fulfilled which say that it must come to pass in this way? At that hour Jesussaid to the crowds, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to seize me? Dayafter day I sat teaching in the temple area, yet you did not arrest me. But all this has come to pass thatthe writings of the prophets may be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him and fled.Think of-Our Lord Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemani, suffering a bitter agony for our sins. Meditateon the weight of all those sins. How much do we add to the weight.

2. Our Lord is Scourged at the Pillar (Matthew 27:26) Then he released Barabbas to them, butafter he had Jesus scourged, he handed him over to be crucified.Think of the cruel scourging at the pillar that our Lord suffered, the heavy blows that tore His flesh.Meditate on the flesh being ripped from Jesus’ bones. His flesh left him, but not His Love for us nor Hispatience or persistence. How are we in times of trial?

3. Our Lord is Crowned with Thorns (Matthew 27:27-31) Then the soldiers of the governor tookJesus inside the praetorium and gathered the whole cohort around him. They stripped off his clothes andthrew a scarlet military cloak about him. Weaving a crown out of thorns, they placed it on his head, anda reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”They spat upon him and took the reed and kept striking him on the head. And when they had mockedhim, they stripped him of the cloak, dressed him in his own clothes, and led him off to crucify him.Think of the crown of sharp thorns that was forced upon our Lord’s Head and the patience with whichHe endured the pain for our sins. Meditate on the thorns being driven into His skull. Three of thethorns were mortal.

4. Our Lord Carries the Cross to Calvary (Matthew 27:32) As they were going out, they met aCyrenian named Simon; this man they pressed into service to carry his cross.Think of the heavy Cross, so willingly carried by our Lord, and ask Him to help you to carry yourcrosses without complaint. Meditate on the pain, the weight, and the falls. Our crosses are nothing incomparison.

5. The Crucifixion of Our Lord (Matthew 27:33-56) And when they came to a place calledGolgotha (which means Place of the Skull), they gave Jesus wine to drink mixed with gall. But when hehad tasted it, he refused to drink. After they had crucified him, they divided his garments by castinglots; then they sat down and kept watch over him there. And they placed over his head the writtencharge against him: This is Jesus, the King of the Jews. Two revolutionaries were crucified with him,one on his right and the other on his left. Those passing by reviled him, shaking their heads and saying,“You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself, if you are the Son ofGod, (and) come down from the cross!” Likewise the chief priests with the scribes and elders mockedhim and said, “He saved others; he cannot save himself. So he is the king of Israel! Let him come downfrom the cross now, and we will believe in him. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now if he wantshim. For he said, “I am the Son of God.’” The revolutionaries who were crucified with him also keptabusing him in the same way.

The Death of Jesus. From noon onward, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. And about three o’clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “ Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means,“My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Some of the bystanders who heard it said, “This one iscalling for Elijah.” Immediately one of them ran to get a sponge; he soaked it in wine, and putting it ona reed, gave it to him to drink. But the rest said, “Wait, let us see if Elijah comes to save him.” ButJesus cried out again in a loud voice, and gave up his spirit. And behold, the veil of the sanctuary wastorn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked, rocks were split, tombs were opened, and bodies ofmany saints who had fallen asleep were raised. And coming forth from their tombs after hisresurrection, they entered the holy city and appeared to many. The centurion and the men with himwho were keeping watch over Jesus feared greatly when they saw the earthquake and all that washappening, and they said, “Truly, this was the Son of God!” There were many women there, looking onfrom a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him. Among them were MaryMagdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

Think of the love, which filled Christ’s Sacred heart during His three hours of agony on the Cross, andask Him to be with you at the hour of death. Meditate on the intense pain of death on a cross. Howmuch can you endure for Love?

The Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary (Wednesday and Sunday)1. The Glorious Resurrection of Our Lord (John 20:1-29) On the first day of the week, Mary of

Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed fromthe tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple who Jesus loved and told them,“They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.” So Peter and theother disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peterand arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but he did not go in. WhenSimon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth thathad covered his head, not with a burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then he sent in the otherdisciple, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. For they did not yetunderstand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead. Then the disciples returned home.

The Appearance to Mary of Magdala. But Mary stayed outside the tomb weeping. And as she wept, shebent over into the tomb and saw two angels in white sitting there, one at the head and one at the feetwhere the body of Jesus had been. And they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said tothem, “They have taken my Lord, and I don’t know where they laid him.” When she had said this, sheturned around and saw Jesus there, but did not know it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, “Woman, why areyou weeping? Whom are you looking for?” She thought it was the gardener and said to him, “Sir, if youcarried him away, tell me where you laid him, and I will take him.” Jesus said to her,” Mary!” Sheturned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni,” which means Teacher. Jesus said to her, “Stop holdingon to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them. ‘I am going tomy Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Mary of Magdala went and announced to thedisciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and what he had told her.

Appearance to the Disciples. On the evening of the first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them,“Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciplesrejoiced when they saw the Lord. (Jesus) said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sentme, so I send you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the HolySpirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciplessaid to him. “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in hishands, and put my finger into the nail marks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” Now aweek later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doorswere locked, and stood in their midst and said, “Peace be with you.” Then he said to Thomas, “Put youfinger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe,” Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have youcome to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”Think of Christ’s glorious triumph when, on the third day after His death, He rose from the tomb and forforty days appeared to His Blessed Mother and to His disciples. Meditate on the dual defeat of Satan(sin) and death. We now have the path of eternal life.

2. The Ascension of Our Lord (Luke 24:36-53) While they were still speaking about this, he stoodin their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” But they were startled and terrified and thoughtthat they were seeing a ghost. Then he said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do questions

arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, because aghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.” And as he said this, he showed them hishands and his feet. While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed, he asked them, “haveyou anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of baked fish; he took it and ate it in front of them.

He said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everythingwritten about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he openedtheir minds to understand the scriptures. And he said to them, Thus it is written that the Messiah wouldsuffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would bepreached in this name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witness of these things. And[behold] I am sending the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed withpower from on high.”

The Ascension. Then he led them [out] as far as Bethany, raised his hands, and blessed them. As heblessed them he parted from them and was taken up to heaven. They did him homage and then returnedto Jerusalem with great joy, and they were continually in the temple praising God.Think of the ascension of Jesus Christ, forty days after His glorious Resurrection, in the presence ofMary and His disciples. Meditate on Jesus’ return to the Father Now, we can permanently have theParaclete

3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-41) When it was time for Pentecost was fulfilled, theywere all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, whichparted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began tospeak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Now there were devout Jews fromevery nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but theywere confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded and inamazement they asked, “Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of ushear them in his own native language? We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants ofMesopotamia, Judea, and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districtsof Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans andArabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God” They were allastounded and bewildered, and said to one another, “What does this mean?” But others said, scoffing,“They have had too much new wine.”

Peter’s Speech at Pentecost. Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and proclaimed tothem, “You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in Jerusalem. Let this be known to you, and listen tomy words. These people are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning. No,this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:

‘It will come to pass in the last days,’ God says, ‘that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all flesh.Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shalldream dreams. Indeed, upon my servants and my handmaids I will pour out a portion of my spirit inthose days, all they shall prophesy. And I will work wonders in the heavens above and signs on theearth below: blood, fire, and a cloud of smoke. The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon toblood, before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord, and it shall be that everyone shall besaved who calls on the name of the Lord.’

You who are Israelites, hear these words, Jesus the Nazorean was a man commended to you by Godwith mighty deeds, wonders, and signs, which God worked through him in your midst, as you

yourselves know. This man, delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God, you killed, usinglawless men to crucify him. But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death, because itwas impossible for him to be held by it. For David says of him:

‘I saw the Lord ever before me, with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed. Therefore my hearthas been glad and my tongue has exulted; my flesh, too, will dwell in hope, because you will notabandon my soul to the nether world, nor will you suffer your holy one to see corruption. You havemade known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.”

My brothers, one can confidently say to you about the patriarch David that he died and was buried, andhis tomb is in our midst to this day. But since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath tohim that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne, he foresaw and spoke of the resurrectionof the Messiah, that neither was he abandoned to the netherworld nor did his flesh see corruption. Godraised this Jesus; of this we are all witnesses. Exalted at the right hand of God, he received the promiseof the holy Spirit from the Father and poured it forth, as you [both] see and hear. For David did not goup into heaven but he himself said:

‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.’”

Therefore let the whole house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified.” Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and they askedPeter and the other apostles, “What are we to do, my brothers?” Peter [said] to them, “Repent and bebaptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you willreceive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is made to you and to your children to all those faroff, whomever the Lord our God will call.” He testified with many other arguments, and was exhortingthem.” Save yourselves from the corrupt generation.” Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day.Meditate on fire as the symbol for Love and the Holy Spirit. Do you feel this fire?

4. The Assumption of Mary into Heaven (Munificentissimus Deus, Pope Pius XII 1950) Finallythe Immaculate Virgin, preserved free from all stain of original sin, when the course of her earthly lifewas finished, was taken up body and soul into heavenly glory, and exalted by the Lord as Queen over allthings, so that she might be the more fully conformed to her Son, the Lord of lords and conqueror of sinand death. Pius XII -- Munificentissimus DeusThink of the glorious Assumption of Mary into Heaven, when she was united with her Divine Son.Meditate on the Mother’s love for you. Yearn to be in Heaven with Her.

5. The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth  (Revelation 12:1) A great signappeared in the sky, a women clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head acrown of twelve stars.Think of the Virgin Mary crowned as Queen of Heaven by her Divine Son. Witness the great joy of allSaints. Meditate on the singular glory bestowed on the Mother. Ask her for her graces and assistancein all matters; those who ask are never left unaided.
