What is Canva?


• Canva is a free graphic-design tool website.

It is a great alternative to Adobe Photoshop.


• The company was founded January 1, 2012 in Australia.



• The website rapidly became popular, with more than 750,000 users in its first year.


• Canva has an easy to use drag-and-drop interface and provides access to over a million photographs, graphics, and fonts.



• It is used by non-designers as well as professionals.



• The tools can be used for both web and print media design and graphics.



What are the features of Canva?

What can I create using Canva?


There are so many things that you can create with Canva.


You can create the following:


Social Media Posts

Social Media and Email Headers

Ads



Let’s get started!


Go to Google.com.


Type “canva” in the search field.


Hit Enter or click the search button.


This will appear.


Click this link.


You will be routed to the homepage.


You can sign in using Facebook, Google account.


You can also sign up with an email.


Let’s sign in using a Google account.


Click the “Sign in with Google” button.


You will receive a confirmation email from Canva.


This is what you will see upon being signed in.


Let’s create a social media post.


Click on “Social Media”.


You will be taken to the Edit Mode.


This is how the edit mode looks like.


The buttons on the left are your

editing tools.


First, choose a layout.


Your chosen layout will appear on the right.


You can edit the text that’s in the template.


Click on the text to edit it.


After putting your text, you can change the font type, size, and color.


Just utilize the text formatting tool as in the below.


Click on “Text” to add a text box.


You can create a text box without formatting by making a selection here.


Or you can choose from the available text box templates.


Let’s select one from the templates.


Type in your desired text.


Next, let’s change the background.


Click on “Bkground”.


You can choose a solid color background here.


Or you can choose a textured background here.


Choose your desired background.


Your post will show the background you have selected.


It is possible to have an image to serve as your background.


Click on “Search”.


Type a keyword here


Choose your desired image.


Note: The images in Canva are not always free.


To get around this, use your own image or search for free images online.


Drag your selected image to the canvas.


You can adjust the dimensions of the images by dragging the corners.


You can edit the images further by utilizing the below image editing box.


If you want to remove the image that you added, just click the trash can icon.


If you click on Filter, you can adjust the brightness and contrast of the image.


Voila! You now have a social media post!


After you are done with your design, you can share it.


Click on “ Share” found at the top part of your screen.


You can share the image in Facebook or Twitter.


You can also share/email it as an editable design.


Let’s share the design on Facebook.


Click on the Facebook icon.


You will see a progress bar.


You will be prompted to share the post in Facebook.


When you click on Post, your design will appear in your Facebook account.


You can also download your design.


Click on Download.


You can download the design as an image or a PDF file.


Downloading is free when you only use free elements or your own images.



If you used any image or item which is not free, you will be required to make a payment before you can

save your design as an image or PDF.


This is the popup for the purchase of the elements.
