    1. Introduction

The current memo describes how to upgrade / downgrade a TeSys T firmware version using the version V1.7 of the TeSys T programmer.

In addition to the current Chapter 1, the document is composed of two main chapters .

    • Chapter 2 describes how to use the TeSys T programmer with the following TeSys T LTMR communication type versions :

    - LTMRxxMxx Serial Modbus - LTMRxxCxx CANopen - LTMRxxDxx DeviceNet - LTMRxxPxx Profibus

    • Chapter 3 describes how to use the TeSys T programmer with TeSys T LTMR Ethernet TCP/IP, references LTMRxxExx.

    Note :

The firmware upgrade / downgrade on TeSys T, once performed on a TeSys T, results in a”Return To Factory” setting operation. In particular, the product configuration previously downloaded in the product is lost and must be downloaded again.

    2.1. Introduction and principle

The current chapter describes how to upgrade / downgrade a TeSys T firmware version for LTMRxxMxx (Modbus), LTMRxxCxx (CANopen), LTMRxxDxx (DeviceNet) or LTMRxxPxx (Profibus).

It explains how to prepare the LTMR and the PC, how to connect them and how to run the programmer.

One physical links shall be established between your PC and the LTMR, from an USB port of the PC to the “LTME/HMI” port on the left side of the front face of the LTMR unit. To do so, use the TCSMCNAM3M002P cable.

    - Note : it is recommended to make a direct link ; do not include one LTMCU in the link between the PC and the LTMR.

The upgrade is finished and you can exit the TeSys T programmer.

Note that if you access your TeSys T through a LTMC U, depending on the firmware upgrade performed on TeSys T, you may have to update the language files of your TeSys T.

If you are in this case and the languages files in LTMCU are not updated, LTMCU displays “Error in languages ” when connected to TeSys T.

It is nevertheless possible to operate temporarily both the TeSys T and the LTMCU but the new TeSys T configuration parameters introduced by the new TeSys T FW version won’t be accessible. Proceed as soon as possible to the LTMCU languages update. To do so, use the Landown software and refer to the LTMCU User Manual.

LTCMU languages updating is necessary when LTMR is upgraded

    - from lower FW version to FW 2.5 or 2.6 : LTMCU languages version must be 1.200 or higher.

    - from lower FW version to FW 2.7 or higher : LTMCU languages version must be 1.300.

    3. TeSys T programmer with LTMR Ethernet TCP/IP

    3.1. Introduction and principle

The current chapter describes how to upgrade / downgrade a TeSys T LTMR Ethernet TCP/IP firmware version..

It is applicable to TeSys T with LTMRxxExx references.

It explains how to prepare the LTMR and the PC, how to connect them and how to run the programmer.

Note : The below described procedure frequently war ns the user “after x minutes” or “wait for x seconds” : these waiting ti mes are mandatory. Not accurately respecting them will lead to TeSys T firmware update failure and possibly to be unable to recover the pr oduct once an update has failed.

Two physical links shall be established between your PC and the LTMR.

One is a serial link from an USB port of the PC to the “LTME/HMI” port on the left side of the front face of the LTMR unit. It uses the TCSMCNAM3M002P cable.

The second link is from the Ethernet port of your PC to any of the Ethernet ports of the LTMR, using one cat5 Ethernet cable.

    3.2. Prepare your PC

3.2.1.Connection through the serial link port Identify the USB port used : to do so, connect the TCSMCNAM3M002P cable at both ends and open the “Control Panel” on the PC, then click on “Devices Manager”.

Then, click on Ports (Com and LPT) and read the number of the port “TSX C USB 485” : in the example : COM3.

3.2.2.Connection through Ethernet You must configure a fix IP address on your PC.

Usually, your PC is configured to automatically get an IP address from a server. You have to configure it in “fix IP address” mode.

In a first, during the software upgrade of the LTMR, LTMR will use its default IP address; then, in a second step, it will use the address 192.168.16.1.

For each of these two LTMR addresses, it is mandato ry to define in your PC a compatible IP address ; compatible means in the sam e Ethernet sub network.

  • Page 11 / 24

    To do so :

Connect the Ethernet cable at both ends.

From the “Control Panel” of your PC, open the “Network and Sharing Center” and click on Local Area Connection to which the LTMR is connected ; in the example, Local Area Connection 3.

  • Page 12 / 24

On the next window, click on “Properties”

On the next window, select “Internet version 4 protocol (TCP/IPv4)” and click on “Properties”.

  • Page 13 / 24

On the next window, select “Use the following IP address”.

Then, enter 85.16.100.0 as IP address and 255.0.0.0 as subnet mask.

    Then, in order to define a second IP address for the PC, click on “Advanced”;

  • Page 14 / 24

Then, on the next window, click on “Add” ….

…. and, as follows, enter the second IP address for the PC, 192.168.16.1. and click on “Add”.

The subnet mask 255.255.255.0 is automatically selected and you get the following window.

Both IP addresses for the PC are now registered and you can exit all the previous windows by clicking on “OK” or “Close” on each one.

    3.3. Using TeSys T programmer

Make sure both links are connected between the PC and the LTRM :

    - Serial link using TCSMCNAM3M002P from PC USB port to LTMR. Note : it is recommended to make a direct link ; do not include one LTMCU in the link between the PC and the LTMR.

    - Ethernet Link between PC and LTMR.

    Run the TeSys T programmer.
