I feel that it is a waste of money that could be used for something much more important. The President’s House design competition does not teach me anything on how African Americans played a vital role in history. We were more than “slaves,” we built this nation and we still are building it. Nonetheless, how many African Americans are actually incorporating the “real message” of slavery to freedom in this project? [Regarding the title of the project –

free and enslaved people interacted and commemorates the resistance of the slaves.

I think visitors will need to spend more time in the exhibit than in some of the others in order to get a sense of it. I hope people will want to spend lots of time there, but this might be a drawback in cold or rainy weather.
