TEACH YOUR QB FOOTBALLTEACH YOUR QB FOOTBALL
Spend time meeting with your QB
Teach him both Offense and Defence
Teach them all the names of positions
Teach him generic names for plays as
well as what your offense calls them Teach them common terms used in
football BS. Blitz
Give them small tests about the game
Watch football with them
Everything you teach then will trigger
more questions, allow them to ask them.
The more you know about something
the better you are at doing it!!!!

GIVE YOUR QB CONFIDENCEGIVE YOUR QB CONFIDENCE
Spending time on Football will
naturally give your QB more confidence
Knowing the answers to the football
questions gives confidence
Meetings ensure communication and a
relationship between Coach and QB.
Both make a QB comfortable
A comfortable QB is a confident QB
Create an Offense that suites your QBs
Skills!! Do not ask him to do something
he can not do. (mentally and
physically)
Allow him to make Mistakes as well as
Plays!!!

TEACH YOUR QB THE WHYSTEACH YOUR QB THE WHYS
OF YOUR OFFENSEOF YOUR OFFENSE Do not just explain what you want
your QB to do but why they should
do it.
Your QB is an extension of the
coach on the field, he needs tounderstand things as well as you
do.
It will help him be a leader and
direct the Offense. (Answer
questions from other players)
Allow for questions and
communication they are a natural
part of learning NOT A
CHALLENGE TO AUTHORITY.

MAJOR PROBLEMS WITHMAJOR PROBLEMS WITH
LEAD FOOTLEAD FOOT
Landing on heel causes imbalance and decreases throwing velocity
Landing on toe decreases power
Only used for short passes that require maximum release point
-
7/29/2019 HowtodevelopeTheYoungQB(2)
37/47
OPEN HIPSOPEN HIPS
The 2 prime Sources of Power in Throwing are the Hips and Trunk
45 angle is important to open the hips
Opening hips generates power
As little as 2 inches can significantly
decreases velocity
Example of jammed/closed hips
Results in decreased accuracy
and velocity

FOLLOW THROUGHFOLLOW THROUGH
Always land on slightly bent knee, never straight leg Transfer body weight from back foot to front foot, into the ball Follow though bring back foot parallel to the front foot If properly balanced then you should be able to stand on only your

Trunk action is directly
connected to the hips and lead
step
Generates power
Rotate trunk on every throw Rotate horizontally not
vertically
Maintain Launch Platform

ARM MOTIONARM MOTION
Good Launch Platform places the ball in the perfect and most efficient position to
throw
Cocking the ball works simultaneously with the trunk, hips and lead foot
