Quidditch Beginner
After the opening cutscenes of the game, you'll find yourself riding a broom. Use
the Left Analog Stick to steer yourself right, light, up and down. Keep in mind
that pressing up will make you go down and pressing down will make you go up
(note that you can turn this inverted flying controls off in the options menu). You
don't need to worry too much about the controls here, Harry will automaticallyfly forward and always in the direction you need to be going. All you need to do
is to veer around to avoid obstacles and fly through the glowing stars. There's
not too much here to throw you off course so simply use the Left Stick to fly
yourself through each star while you get use to the controls. Keep this up and
you'll eventually catch up to the snitch which will trigger a small scene.
Grime Buster
After your first go around with flying a broomstick you'll need to find Ron andHermione, on foot. Use the Left Stick to walk around. You'll find them just ahead
of near the house. Approach them to start another short dialogue scene.
Afterwards, you'll need to move some cauldrons via spellcasting. To cast spells
you must use the Right Analog Stick to perform the necessary motions which will
cast a particular spell. This first spell, Wingardium Leviosa, will left an object
into the air. With the Right Stick, push up, then left, right, left, right very quickly.
Once the cauldron is in the air, you can move it around with the Left Stick. You
now want to hurl the Cauldron into the swamp. Aim it at the swamp then tap up
twice on the Right Stick and you'll toss the object into the swamp. Repeat this
for the remaining three cauldrons. This also unlocks a trophy.
Off to School
You'll bare witness to a number of scenes which will conclude with you outside
-

the school at night and needing to back there. Make your way up the path in
front of you. Be sure to grab your first Crest which is right in the middle of the
path, pretty hard to miss. There are 125 of these crests hidden throughout the
game. You'll find a few more as you proceed up the path and hill towards the
school.
As you approach a small house along the path, you'll be introduced to Mini-
Crests and how to acquire them. If you see something glowing or shining, tap up
twice on the Right Stick to release the Mini-Crests from the object and then run
over them to pick them up. If you fill up your mini-crest meter located in the top
left of the screen, you'll be awarded another Crest. You can acquire a total of 25
crests this way.
When you reach the house along the path, you should notice a Crest on the roof
of it above the door. Stand back by the pumpkins and cast you lifting spell one of
them. Once the pumpkin is levitating in the air, aim it at the crest on the roof
then tap up twice to toss the pumpkin at the crest and knock it off the roof. You
can know simply pick it up from the ground. Also note that there is another Crest
way out behind this house among the trees and another one out in front of the
house across the path near the trees.
Continue up the hill towards the school, collecting all the Mini-Crests you care to
collect. Keep following the path to the school until you trigger another scene.
Potion Class
After the scene you'll find yourself and Ron inside their room. You'll be
introduced to Nearly Headless Nick who can be summoned at anytime in the
school and he will guide you to your desired destination. At this point, you'll want
to follow Nick to your Potions Class. Along the way, feel free to collect any Mini-
Crests and Crests you can find. They are literally hidden throughout the school.
If you see one on a wall, find a nearby object to lift up with a spell and toss it at
the wall-mounted Crest to knock it down.
Follow Nick all the way down and through the school. Eventually you'll find
yourself outside the Potions classroom. Head inside to begin your tutorial on
potions. To manipulate and create potions, you'll use the Left Stick to highlight
the desired ingredient then "A" to pick it up. Now move the item around with the
Left Stick, you want to move it directly over the cauldron. Well, maybe not
-
8/8/2019 HPHBP W
4/14
directly over but over the edge of it. Use the item's shadow to line it up with the
edge of the pot. Now use the Right Stick pour the ingredient into the cauldron.
The idea is to pour stuff into the cauldron to turn the mixture different colors.
You want to match the colors prompted to you onscreen. Once you get into
potion making, you'll need to pick up the proper ingredients by matching their
bottle shape with the corresponding onscreen direction, then pour said
ingredient into the cauldron until it turn the matching color indicated. You'll also
be taught how to heat up the cauldron too, which is another way to alter the
potion's color. Simply follow the onscreen instructions and match all the steps to
creating each potion.
Once you have completed all potion making tasks, leave the classroom and meet
Ron in the hallway just outside.
Dueling Club
During the scene with Ron, you'll be invited to join a Dueling Club. The young
student will also present the first shortcut to you. At the end of the hallway is a
portrait. Approach it and press "A" to use this short to travel back to the main
stairwell of the school. Once back in the moving staircase area, summon Nearly
Headless Nick to lead you to the dueling club. Follow Nick and enter the room
after another brief exchange in dialogue.
Inside you'll be be taught the basics of dueling. First is Stupefy (push Up on the
Right Stick). This is a small energy projectile that can be fired in rapid
succession. Hit Ron with three of these. Next you'll learn how to dodge left and
right. Practice as Ron shoots at you. Lastly you'll learn how to cast
Expelliarmus (press left on the Left Stick and right on the Right Stick at the
same time). This is a more powerful projectile spell that can know your enemies
off their feet. Again, practice it three times on Ron.
You'll now enter into an actual duel with Ron (meaning he'll fight back). Dodgehis attacks and cast Expelliarmus until you've hit him and knocked Ron off his
feet. When Ron is stunned on the ground, cast Stupefy repeatably to damage
him some more. As soon as he gets back up to his feet, hit him with another
Expelliarmus. Repeat this cycle until you've defeated Ron in two rounds. You are
now an official member of the Gryffindor Dueling Club.
-

5/14
At this point, you can now either leave and go about the story or proceed to go
through the various Gryffindor challenges. They are located to the left of the
door. It's recommended that you simply hammer through the four duels right
here and now instead of worrying about coming back and dealing with them
later. You should be able to easily defeat each of your fellow club members by
following the same pattern you did with Ron. Knock them over with Expelliarmus
then hammer away at them with a barrage of Stupefys while then slowly get up,
then repeat. Completing all four challenges will grant you more powerful spells.
Whether you choose to combat the others or not, when you are ready to move
on, step outside this room and talk to Ron and Hermione.
Dumbledore's Private Lesson
While talking with Hermione and Ron, you'll be summoned by Dumbledore for a
private lesson. Once the other two leave, summon Nearly Headless Nick to lead
you to Dumbledore's secret area. Follow Nick through the door in front of you,
then around to the right and approach the stone bird statue to trigger a passage
to open. This will also trigger a scene between young Potter and Dumbledore.
Quidditch Trials
After some dialogue, you'll be left with Katie and need to make your way to theQuidditch trials. Follow Katie and she will lead you through the school. Keep an
eye out for all the glowing objects and tap up on the Right Stick as you pass
them to collect all the Mini-Crest. Katie will lead you through the school and out
into the courtyard where a rival student will close the gate on you and Katie.
Luckily the pieces to the gate lever are nearby. Here you'll learn the spell
Reparo which involves you rotating the Right Stick in a clockwise motion. This
spell can repair broken objects, like the lever. Once you've repaired it, Katie will
move it back into place and open the gate.
Once the gate opens, step through it to enter a duel with this disgruntled
student. Same basic premiss as you learned in the dueling club. Hit him with an
Expelliarmus to knock him down and then barrage him with Stupefy casts.
Repeat this offensive tactic until you've defeated the failed bully. Now return to
following Katie around to the Quidditch pitch.

When you reach the Quidditch pitch, you'll trigger a small scene and then be off
and flying once again. Steer yourself through each star. When you pass through
a star you'll be giving more time. While there's no timer onscreen, the stars will
turn colors; Green means you're doing good, Red means you're running out of
time. Attempt to stay in the middle of the screen whenever you cannot see your
next star and are being turned around. Again, these Quidditch sections are on
rails. You can't fly around anywhere, you will move along a set path and will
simply need to steer yourself around screen to avoid obstacles and fly through
stars. This is a rather long race, concentrate on going through the stars and you
will come out victorious.
After the trails, step outside to talk to Ginny.
Ginny's PotionTalk to Ginny just outside the Quidditch pitch and Harry will volunteer to make a
shrinking potion for her. Call upon Nearly Headless Nick who'll lead you to the
Herbology room. Here you'll be introduced to a Potions Club member. You'll need
to prove yourself before they allow you to use their ingredients for a Shrinking
Potion. Approach the bulletin board nearby and select the first challenge. First
you'll be taught how to shake a potion to make it just barely bubble out and then
you'll be shown how to pick up a non-liquid ingredient and add it into the
cauldron.
Follow the instructions to complete the test potion for the club. Once you
succeed, you'll be able to make the Shrinking Potion. Carefully follow the
directions while being mindful of the timer. Being hasty doesn't always works. A
hasty potion maker is often a sloppy one and ultimately fails to make their
potions on time. Be methodical and efficient about it. Know what you're picking
up by always matching it to the instructions. Don't get discouraged if you fail.
Simply try it again until you do it.
Once you have completed the Shrinking Potion, you'll need to talk it to Ginny
back at the Quidditch Pitch. Leave the Herbology room to the training grounds
where you'll be accosted by another bully. A duel will ensue out here. Again,
focus on knocking him over with Expelliarmus and then a barrage of Stupefy
casts. When you have defeated the bully, a member of the Hufflepuff Dueling
Club will ask you to demonstrate some moves for their club.
-

7/14
First you'll learn how to castProtego which will produce an energy shield and
can bounce enemy attacks back at them. Press down on the Right Stick to
execute this move. Do this three times just before your dueling partner fires.
After that, you'll learn how to Charge. Hold down on the Right Stick to charge
your wand, then tap up to fire a super charged Stupefy.
After completing this brief session, you'll be able to tackle the Hufflepuff Dueling
Club challenges. You can do them now if you care to.
When you are ready to move on, summon Nick once again and he'll lead you
straight to Ginny who's nearby.
The Season Begins
You'll now need to make your way back to the Quidditch pitch from your room.Call upon Nearly Headless Nick to guide you there. He'll use a shortcut along the
way, following him through it is the quickest way to get there. Part way along
your journey you'll encounter another bully who forces you into a duel. Defeat
him like the others and continue to follow Nick to the pitch.
Once you reach the pitch you'll begin the first Quidditch match of the season.
Like you did before, try to stay in the middle of the screen when no stars are in
sight. The Quidditch match will run your through a considerable amount of
obstacles. You'll need to really focus on dodging a lot of objects and nailing allthe stars. Stay focused however and this match will be in the bag in no time.
Great Party
Call Nick and he'll lead you to the boathouse where you'll find Luna.
You'll learn how to castIncendio here by pressing down and up repeatedly.
This will make things catch fire. Target the box of fireworks and then light them
up by performing Incendio. Now make your way up the long staircase. You willneed to light four more boxes of fireworks off along the way back up to the
castle. Don't worry too much about spotting them, Luna will tell you when you
are near one.
When you reach the top of the stairs after lighting all four boxes of fireworks,
Luna will take the lead. Follow her to the party. Once there, the professor will

put you work mixing a potion. Here you'll learn how to stir. After the brief tutorial
you'll need to mix together a rather lengthy potion. Pay close attention to the
ingredient shapes needed. You don't want to be mixing in the wrong things.
Work your way through the instructions until you have completed the potion.
Skulking About
After a brief scene, you'll need to follow Draco and Snape. You can't get too
close to them so don't run. Simply walk and follow them to keep them in within
eyesight. If you notice the edge of your screen to darken, it means your in
danger of losing them. Simply follow them through the hallway until they stop to
talk and you stop to listen in on them.
The Burrow Defender
You'll now have a duel with Bellatrix. She has a lot more life than other
characters you've face thus far. You need to be aggressive with her. If she
dodges your Expelliarmus, try throwing a charged Stupefy and then a quick
Expelliarmus to catch her off guard. Don't worry too much about your defensive
spell. It's best to just strafing around and unloading your projectile attacks.
Remember to hammer away at her when she's on the ground.
Once you've knocked her out, you'll trigger another short scene and then have to
battle her again. Same rules apply as before, the only difference here is that
Bellatrix will have even more health. All the more reason to stay on the offensive
and wear her out faster.
After defeating Bellatrix a second time you'll need to battle her werewolf
henchman, Greyback (in human form at least). Once again, stay on the
offensive. Always be hurling projectiles at him and moving around to dodge his
attacks. Defeat him to proceed.
Where's Draco?
After a few scenes you'll find yourself back in the school with a need to locate
Draco. Luckily a new portrait shortcut will make itself present to you. Call upon
Nick once again and follow him through the shortcut to the great hall. Keep
-

following Nick up the various staircases to the 7th floor. On top of being your
handy guide, Nick will also occasionally point up Crests for you to collect if you
missed them. Whether you care to collect crests or not, follow Nick to Draco's
last known position.
Mystery Potion
Now that you have acquired an unnamed list of potion instructions, it's time to
find Hermione in the Potions room. Call Nearly Headless Nick and he'll lead you
straight to Hermione. After an exchange in dialogue you'll need to make this
nameless potion to find out what it is. Carefully follow the instructions. The small
skinny black things on the left can be a bit of a pain to add to the cauldron.
Don't hastily try to toss them in. Take your time and use their shadow to help
guide you directly over the pot. Complete the potion to trigger the next scene.
Dumbledore's Second Lesson
Dumbledore will summon you to another private lesson. Use Nick to guide to
Dumbledore's quarters. In front of his quarters you will encounter a girl who has
had a Noisy Hitter stolen from her by a bully in the courtyard. This sounds like a
job for Harry Potter. Approach the bully to trigger a duel with him. Like all duels
thus far, go completely offensive to mop the floor with him. Once you've
defeated him, return to the girl outside Dumbledore's and give her the Noisy
Hitter. You may now enter Dumbledore's quarters.
Ravenclaw Dueling Club
After the scene with Dumbledore, follow Hermione to the Transfiguration
Courtyard. Collect Crests Mini-Crests along the way. Once there, you will be
invited to join the Ravenclaw Dueling Club. Here you'll learn Levicorpus (press
left on the Right and Left Stick at the same time). This is a great spell that will
flip your opponents upside down and hold them like that for some time. This
allows you to barrage them with projectiles. This will "stun" your opponents for a
lot longer than the Expelliarmus cast, making it more practical. From now one,
this should be your go to spell to disable your enemies so you can unleash a ton
of Stupefy and charged Stupefys on them. Note that if you get hit with
Levicorpus to quickly pressing right and left repeatedly on the Left Stick to free

yourself of this spell.
Once you've beaten one of the Ravenclaw members, you'll be free to take on
their challenges to become champion of Ravenclaw if you so desire. It is
recommended however as becoming champion will increase your spells power.
Quidditch Practice
When you are ready to move on, call Nick and he'll lead you back to the
Quidditch pitch for practice. Same rules apply here. Veer Harry around the
screen while you fly along the predetermined line. Fly through the stars to keep
your invisible timer up. You'll need to fly through the circle hoops a few times
throughout the practice. This is the most difficult part however if you are nailing
all the other stars you should have plenty of time if you happen to mess up a few
times.
Off to Potions
After practice you'll want to follow Ron back to the Potions classroom. Along the
way you'll encounter a Slytheran dueler. He'll challenge you to a duel. Defeat him
like all the others and he'll offer for you to come by and join their dueling club.
After the duel, proceed to follow Ron through the school. You'll eventually runinto Lavender who Ron is trying to avoid. Being the good mate that you are, you
offer to deal with her for Ron. Cast Wingardium Leviosa on her bag by the
bookshelf. Once the bag is in the air, maneuver it around to capture each of her
flying books.
Once you've nabbed all her books, she'll take off leaving you to follow Ron the
rest of the way to the Potions class.
In class you'll need to mix together another potion. Carefully follow the
instructions. Match each ingredient and add it to the cauldron. Pay attention tothe instructions as to not forget to shake the last ingredient before adding it.
Once you've completed the potion, meet Ron outside the classroom.
The Astonomy Tower
Once you leave the Potions class, you'll be told Draco wants to meet you in the
-
8/8/2019 HPHBP W
11/14
Astronomy Tower. Call Nearly Headless Nick and he'll lead you around the school
and to the tower. Once in the tower, you'll be corner by the twins. You'll only
have to fight one at a time. The tricky part of this duel is the shelves can
sometimes get in your way. Alternate between Exelliarmus and Levicorpus until
you've knocked your foe off his feet. When stunned, hit him with some charge
Stupefy casts. Once you defeat the first goon, you'll have to immediately fight
the other twin. Simply stay on the move and very offensive. Defeat both
characters to trigger the next scene where they lock you in the tower. The lever
to the gate will be on your side however. Pick up the lever with Wingardium
Leviosa and smash it against the wall to break it into pieces. Now pick up the
pieces with the same spell and move the pieces through the gate. Because it's
broken into small pieces, it can fit through. Once on the other side of the gate,
cast Reparo to put the pieces back together. Now move the level near thecontraption to free yourself from the tower.
Love-Struck Ron
After some dialogue you'll take control of the love-struck Ron. You'll need to
follow Harry to Slughorn's Office. You'll need to hold the sprint button down if
you want to even run as Ron. If not you'll simply slowing walk the entire way.
Follow Harry to the office where you'll need to mix Ron an antidote. Follow the
instructions slowly as to not mess up. Believe it or not, going fast and makingmistakes is a bigger time eater than working thoroughly. Once the potion has
been made, you'll cure Ron of his ailment.
Gryffindor vs Hufflepuff
After saving Ron from falling in love, you'll need to make your way to the
Quidditch pitch. Once there, you'll need to do a quick practice before the match
against Hufflepuff. Fly through the stars and avoid the obstacles to complete this
practice race. Directly after your practice, you'll go into the match withHufflepuff. The opposing team's seeker will be a lot more aggressive this time
around. Do you best to simply bump him out of your way so you can stay on
course and nail fly through the stars.
Katie Bell Returns
-
8/8/2019 HPHBP W
12/14
Call upon Nearly Headless Nick to lead you down to the Great Hall where Katie
Bell is. Along the way however, you'll have another duel with the twins. Again,
cast Levicorpus to stun them and then barrage them with Stupefy casts. When
you have finished, battling them, continue to follow Nick to Katie in the Great
Hall. After a brief scene with her you'll need to chase Draco through the school.
Use the sprint button to stay close to him on straight aways. Do not attempt to
take corners while sprinting, it's simply not possible. If you are falling behind the
edges of the screen will darken to warn you to hurry up or else you'll loose
Draco. Stay with him and you'll soon corner him in a bathroom
Here you'll need to fight Draco in a wizard's duel. You really want to stun him
with either Expelliarmus or preferably Levicorpus. Whenever he's on his feet you
want to be casting these spells to stun him. Once stunned, charge and cast
Stupefy over and over again. When he gets back up repeat this process untilyou've defeated him.
Feeling Lucky
Harry will take a good luck potion during a scene after defeating Draco. You'll
enter a first person section of gameplay now. You don't have control of Potter's
movement, but you can look around and even collect Mini-Crests. The idea here
is to simply let the game walk you to Slughorn's. Along the way however betapping up on the Right Stick repeatedly to collect Mini-Crests. Given that your
luck is improved momentarily, you'll be given a ton of Mini-Crests.
Once in the Herbology area, you'll need to make a potion for Slughorn. Follow
the instructions carefully and you'll have this potion done in no time which will
gain you some leverage with Slughorn himself.
Slughorn's Memory
Once you've acquired Slughorn's memory, head up the hill towards the school.
You'll once again need to defend yourself from the twins. Same rules apply. Go
all out offensive until you've defeated them and then you'll encounter
Dumbledore.
Ginny's Quidditch Match
-
8/8/2019 HPHBP W
13/14
Due to Harry's detention, you'll be playing as Ginny in this Quidditch match. First
though, you'll need to run a practice drill. This one is not too hard. There are a
few instances where you'll need to quickly weave left and right to fly through a
grouping of stars. This will happen in the real match as well. Complete the
practice round to proceed to the real match against Ravenclaw. Again, enemies
will be a bit more aggressive here. There are some tricky moments during the
match. One in particular has you flying around the trench of the stadium for an
extended amount of time. Focus on staying away from the walls in here. You
really got to focus to hit all the stars you can here. Survive to the end and you'll
nab the snitch and win the match.
Wiggenweld Potion
After the Quidditch match with Ginny, you'll regain control of Mr. Potter.
Summon Nick to lead you to the Herbology area. Once there, approach the
bulletin board in near the venus flytrap-like plant. Select the board and cycle
through the potions to the right until you find the Wiggenweld Potion challenge.
You now need to make this potion. It's a bit of a tricky one. Like always though,
take you time and do things correctly instead of fast. One thing to note with this
and other harder potions, is that some of the stronger ingredients will alter the
mixture's color really fast. Sometimes you only need a drop or two to reach the
color you need. Keep a cool head and don't be discouraged if you need to tryagain.
Once you've made the potion, Harry will drink it which will increase his health
during duels. Call upon Nearly Headless Nick once again and have him lead you
to the Astronomy Tower. Head up the spiral staircase to the very top where
you'll find Dumbledore. Approach him to start a dialogue.
The Horcrux
Harry travels to a mysterious cave with Dumbledore in pursuit of the Horcrux.
After a scene on a small island, you'll take control of Harry along the shore. Here
you'll need to fend off waves of zombie-like creatures as they crawl out of the
water. The only spell you need to cast here is Stupefy, but you'll need to cast it a
ton. Strafe back and forth casting Stupefy non-stop. You should be able to easily
fend off all through waves of creatures this way. Defeat all three waves to trigger
-
8/8/2019 HPHBP W
14/14
another cutscene.
Final Showdown
After Harry and Dumbledore return to the school you'll witness a ratheremotional scene for some. Once the scene concludes you'll face off against a
Deatheater. Go full on offensive with your heavier spells first to stun him. Once
stunned, cast some fully charged Stupefy spells until he is mobile again. Repeat
this until you've defeated him. Harry will automatically run along in pursuit of the
others. You won't have control of him until you are up against another
Deatheater. Same strategy here. Stun him then barrage him with Stupefy casts
until he's been defeated.
Harry will now run out to the courtyard. Here you'll face Greyback once again.
Stun him with Expelliarmus (it lasts a bit longer on him) and then hit with a
couple of charged Stupefy cast while he gets up. Stay on the move and on the
offensive to defeat this werewolf.
Once you defeat Greyback, Harry will run out of the school and you'll battle
Bellatriz again. Nothing changes here. Stun her with you heavy hitting spells then
barrage her with charged Stupefy casts. Keep moving back and forth and do
your best to not get hung up on the environment. Stay on the offensive with
your projectile attacks and you'll wipe the floor with her pretty easily.
Beating Bellatrix will complete the story portion of the game. Congratulations.
You are now free to rome about the school. You can continue to collect Crests
that you have missed and even tackle a the various club challenges throughout
the school. Have fun!
