HPI Computer namesComputer names have to be unique, the same computer name cannot coexist in HPQ and HPI. If an HPQ computer name is needed under the HPI environment delete it first from Computer accounts in ATM.

Power UP the New HP

Next you will find the solutions to the identified issues from the last myIT events related to error and unexpected behaviors from the Power Up the New HP migration tool for HPI employees.

Power Up not taking username and password (unverified)David Nutt - The tool will not accept the user’s email address and password.  In some cases, a password reset worked but I think some of these are related to the 2711 error I’ve reported through Robert where it’s impossible to join or unjoin a machine to/from a domain, and suggests to me the PC has a local issue with its domain membership/configuration.  We don’t have a fix or a workaround for this yet, so the choices I gave users last week were to either wait to see if we get a fix if they’re not in a rush to migrate, or reimage their PC with the HPI image if they want to get migrated while we’re there.

MS Office 2013 prerequisite failingWe saw systems that had accepted the SP1 update from COE but were not actually running SP1.

1. Uninstall MS Office 2013 and previous versions from Self-Service Application Manager (including MSO Project, Visio, Lync, Office Communicator).

2. Run > maint.exe and wait for Self-Service Application manager finishes to update.

3. Execute MSO 2013 Uninstaller

4. If there were 2010 versions of MS Office products, please execute the corresponding uninstaller:

a. MSO 2010 Uninstaller for Windows 7

b. MSO 2010 Uninstaller for Windows 8

5. Reboot computer.

6. Run > maint.exe and wait for Self-Service Application manager finishes to update.

7. Install Office 2013 SP1 from Self-Service Application Manager.

Trigger manual HPI migration - Power Up the New HP (magic wand)This process is when mailbox has migrated and want to trigger pc migration immediately.

1. At HP site connect via LAN // Remote make sure VPN is successfully established.

2. Check ATM for Mailbox move complete. AD User Account Transaction Type: "MailboxMoved". if this is not done they are not triggered to migrate. Stop.

3. Do a: Start – Run – Maint

4. Click this link http://myitpc-dev.corp.hp.com/tools/migrate.exe (only available via vpn, corporate network)

5. Click Run

9

Page 10: HPIT Separation SurvivalGuide v2.7 AUG19

6. Open Task Manager

7. Kill MigDetect.exe process if present

8. Kill Desktop.migration.main.exe if present

9. Run C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\PC COE 3\OV CMS\Lib\cache\HPQ_MIGRATION_TOOL_EN\MigDetect.exe

10. Wait for popup

11. Click on ‘Migrate Me’

12. Done. Run Process

User isn’t prompted to migrate (but has the widget).  The tool was updated to look for updates every minute instead of two hours

We saw some cases where the widget doesn’t appear to be able to figure out who the user is so defaults to the 1440 min checking frequency and never gets the true flag. In these cases, force them through the migration using the following steps:

1. Most common cause is because the tool hasn’t received the flag to start the migration, this needs to be verified first

2. Check if the mailbox has the “MailboxMoved” status in ATM

3. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\PC COE 3\OV CMS\Lib\cache\HPQ_MIGRATION_TOOL_EN\Log

4. Open the MigDetect.log and navigate the most recent date and look for:

<MigrationDetection>

<MigrateUser>

<MigrateEnabled>False</MigrateEnabled>

<MigrateTo>Not Found</MigrateTo>

<CheckInterval>Not Found</CheckInterval>

<CheckIntervalBoost>60</CheckIntervalBoost>

<HPIMailCheckInterval>Not Found</HPIMailCheckInterval>

<PostponeDeadline>2015-07-23</PostponeDeadline>

<DeadlineDate>2015-10-16</DeadlineDate>

</MigrateUser>

</MigrationDetection>

5. If the user has the False status as stated above the tool will not run. Ask the use to wait 24 hours that is the time ATM takes to update.

10

Page 11: HPIT Separation SurvivalGuide v2.7 AUG19

6. If is true run “maint.exe”

7. Run “C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\PC COE 3\OV CMS\Lib\cache\HPQ_MIGRATION_TOOL_EN\ MigDetect.exe”

8. As last resort follow the next step:

9. Download the migration tool to somewhere like c:\temp from http://wupdates.houston.hp.com/content/migtool.wim

10. Create a folder called C:\Powerup

11. Run “C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\PC COE 3\OV CMS\Lib\cache\HPQ_MIGRATION_TOOL_EN\imagex.exe” /apply c:\temp\migtool.wim 1 C:\Powerup

12. Run C:\Powerup\launch.vbs (this puts the shortcut on the desktop and runs the tool)

Process to install 100% loop

1. Open task manager, look for the process “imagex.exe” and kill it by clicking on “end process”

2. Go to “C:\powerup\migtool.wim” and move the “migtool.wim” file to “c:\temp”

3. Go back to the Powerup folder located in “C:\powerup”, open the folder, select all the files

inside folder and delete them by pressing shift + Delete on your keyboard.

4. Run CMD (command prompt) as an administrator.

5. Copy and paste the following path into the CMD and hit Enter “cd C:\Program Files (x86)\

Hewlett-Packard\PC COE 3\OV CMS\Lib\cache\HPQ_MIGRATION_TOOL_EN”

6. Add “Imagex /apply c:\temp\migtool.wim 1 c:\powerup” to the result in the CMD and hit

Enter.

7. Close the command prompt and run “launch.vbs” from the Powerup folder.

The Collecting Data and Settings step prompts to reboot and try again. It does this if it encounters a locked file that it couldn’t unlock. In some cases, the reboot works, in others it fails with an unknown error. The unknown error is caused by the c:\migdata folder not being able to be removed.

1. Reboot computer.

2. Delete c:\migdata folder.

3. Tool can run ok now.

Check for unknown errors

You could also check c:\powerup\scripts\usmt\amd64\scanstate.log for details of exactly what is causing the issue if you run into other weirdness.

The Restoring Data and Settings step fails with error 29.

11

Page 12: HPIT Separation SurvivalGuide v2.7 AUG19

HPIT Separation Survival Guide Updated as of 13/8/2015

This appears to happen when the tool runs multiple times in the same session for some reason.  If you see the error 29 screen drag the window across and you’ll probably see a second window behind it waiting at the logoff prompt.  This is the window that’s actually at the right step, so you can ignore the error 29 window and interact with the other one.  I’ve reported this to the dev team and am waiting for a fix.

Restoring Settings phase is taking too long. Some users get impatient waiting for the restoring settings phase to complete and think it’s hung.   They need to be patient, especially if they have older disks and a lot of files to migrate.  I generally saw the disk working very hard at this point but they did all get through it, although some took an hour or more.

The process logs in as HPIMIGRATELogin screen shows HPIMIGRATE (The password for this is the user’s HPI domain password) and then displays a screen saying the user has already migrated and no more action is required.  If you see this:

1. Close the tool.

2. START > RUN: lusrmgr.msc

3. Go to the Groups folder

4. Double-click on Administrators group.

5. Remove user’s HPI domain account and press OK.

6. Run the tool again using the desktop shortcut.

This triggers it to re-run step 3 and gets it moving again.

Error code 38Unable to move data from the Americas profile to auth.

1. Go to C:\Users

2. Move user contents from HPQ username profile to HPI username profile

Migration not required1. Check if the user is logged in the HPIMIGRATE user

2. Close the Migration tool

3. Go to Local Users and Groups

4. Check if the user has admin rights

5. If it does, remove the admin rights

6. Re-run the tool

7. If error persist re add the admin rights

8. Re-run the tool

6. From start/run type “maint.exe” (no quotes) and hit enter

7. Execute PowerUp again.

8. After the migration process finished one drive may not be installed if is not installed continue

with this steps:

9. Go to C:\PowerUp\tasks\step1\6000\sources

10. Install both x86 executables:

a. csi2013-kb3054797-fullfile-x86-glb.exe

b. groove2013-kb3054825-fullfile-x86-glb.exe

11. create a shortcut to desktop of “GuideOneDriveApp.exe”

Error Code 13

1. Delete computer name from HPQ environment (ATM)

2. Create the same computer name in HPI environment using ATM

3. Delete the password and computer name value from c:\powerup\data\details_tmp.xml

do not delete the whole line! Just the value.

Run the tool again.

Unknown error

We have seen this error when the user has a big amount of PST files. The tool tries to copy the PST

files and triggers the error because of the long time waiting or the lack of space.

1. move the PST folder to C drive,

2. run the tool

3. Move PST folder back to AUTH user folder.

4. If the Folder is no the in C anymore look for it in c:\powerup\data folder

Error code 3

1. Go to the powerup folder. 2. Tasks.

13

3. Step 1.4. Folder 8000.5. Do right click on “captureapps.vsb” and select edit.6. Go to the line “cmdUSMT = “ c:\migstore\apps /o /localonly” and put “ /VSC” right after “/o” so it should look this way “cmdUSMT = “ c:\migstore\apps /o /VSC /localonly”7. Save and exit.8. Restart migration.

Error code 9\User is not an adminThis will most likely happen when the user is not part of the admin group. Check the administrator group to see if it has their AUTH\username. If it does not, you will need to login as the HPIMigrate user to add them to the admin group. However, if they didn’t finish the last step of when the tool is logged in as the HPIMigrate user, it will run automatically and will add the user to the admin group. To login as HPIMigrate, select ‘switch user’ then choose other user. You will see a link at the bottom on ‘how to login to other domain’. From there, you can find out what the computer name is. Login user will be: computernane\hpimigrate and the password will be their HPI password.

No data is restored after migration completeThis will also happen, like with error code 9, if the process didn’t finish when the tool was logged in as HPIMigrate. Check to see if the user is an admin, if they are not, see error code 9 to add the user to the admin group. If they are an admin on the pc, you can either login as HPIMigrate and the tool should migrate the data. You can also manually move the data from their old user profile to their new user profile. The new user profile will the AUTH.username.

Enable WSUS1. Check if WSUS is running, there are two ways:

Outlook credentials would not stop asking for credentialsHere is a manual fix that will help with some people if: Their mailbox has migrated to HPI Office365 Exchange online Their Outlook is constantly prompting for credentials and will not connect A new Outlook profile cannot be created

The VAST majority of people are fixed by making really sure they have the same passwords in HPQ and HPI, but if that still doesn’t work, the attached .REG file can be put anywhere on the hard disk, and then double-click to apply.  No reboot is necessary, but completely shut down Outlook and Lync and restart.

This .reg file can be applied after the mailbox migrates to HPI.  It doesn’t matter if the PC has migrated yet or not.

These registry keys are applied by 3 PC COE processes and should already be there, but in a few cases, they are not.  The .REG file can be applied without any danger – it will not break anyone.

Outlook OST issuesProceed to guide the user to reset and enable the HPI account password. HPI and HPQ passwords should be the same. myITservices form: Set Password and Enable HPI Primary Accounts

SR-DASH (OPT)ATTENTION : All OPT and CHAT users (SR-DASH users)

35

Page 36: HPIT Separation SurvivalGuide v2.7 AUG19

HPIT Separation Survival Guide Updated as of 13/8/2015

When you migrate to your hpe.com email address, you MUST take two extra steps to update your SR-Dash (OPT / CHAT) account.  Until you take these final steps, you will not be able to use OPT or Chat.

1. Wait until you get the migration notice from the email migration team.2. On your appointed day for migration, follow all the instructions. You will get an updated virtual

digital badge but NOT an updated Class B badge. OPT requires a Class B digital badge.3. Get a new class B digital badge

a. Close out of Internet Explorer if it is open.b. Click on the “MyITSupport” icon in your system tray (blue box that says IT)c. If at ANY time in this process, you are asked to log in – use your email and password –

not a digital badged. Select the “Connect” pulldown at the top of this page and click on the top option “digital

badge”:

e. You will see this screen and you want to pick “enroll for or renew a digital badge”

36

Page 37: HPIT Separation SurvivalGuide v2.7 AUG19

HPIT Separation Survival Guide Updated as of 13/8/2015

f. Pick the Class B option -

g. Say YES to any pop ups that come up (there are about 3 of them) and use email/pass-word for any login requests.

h. When you get to this screen, you do not need the additional security so you can leave that unchecked and accept at the bottom:

37

Page 38: HPIT Separation SurvivalGuide v2.7 AUG19

HPIT Separation Survival Guide Updated as of 13/8/2015

i. You should get this at the end:

4. After you’ve completed the migration and gotten the new Class B digital badge, go to the follow-ing site to update your SR-Dash account: http://virtualsupport.rose.hp.com/emailmigration/

Enter your hp.com email and then your new hpe.com email in the form. Be VERY careful, this form will not error check you. Double or triple check the entry of your old and new email addresses before hitting “update account email”.

You will receive an email confirmation at both old and new email addresses.  5. Make sure that if OPT (SR-Dash/Chat) was open, you exit and close any screens6. Open SR-Dash and unselect “remember me”7. In the next screen, you may see one or several digital badges. If you have a choice, you may

need to use trial and error to try each and see which one is the correct one. You’ll know you picked right when your login proceeds and OPT (or Chat) comes up.

8. Now you should be complete and able to log into OPT or Chat to continue work.

******************IF you make a mistake or typo in one of your email addresses, read on for how to fix that.

1. If you didn’t enter your OLD hp.com email correctly: You will receive an error if there is no user account under that email. SR-Dash will not be able to update your account and you simply need to try the form again.

2. If you didn’t enter your NEW hpe.com email correctly: You will have changed your OPT or Chat account to the wrong email.

a. Look in your inbox to find the confirmation email. You will get it because your hp.com email will be working and forwarding to you.

b. Check the exact email you entered in the “New hpe.com email” box.c. Return to the SR-Dash account email update form. d. Enter the hpe.com email that you’ve looked up in step 2 into the “Prior hp.com Email”

box.e. Enter your correct hpe.com email into the “New hpe.com Email” and hit “Update Ac-

count Email”

ERROR “KEY NOT VALID FOR USE IN SPECIFIED STATE”

the same error appears if you try to install it manually. I found a fix in Microsoft, it works in both environments, win 8 and win 7.

Method 1:This is the fix that has helped many customers fix similar issue. For "Key not valid for use in specified state" errors try moving the folder RSA from C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA to say C:\RSA (just in case there should be a need to restore it) then try installing again. This folder appears to act as a cache and should be rebuilt automatically as required.Method 2:If that does not help, run the System File Checker(SFC) scan and then try download-ing the programs.SFC scan replaces the corrupted system files with the original version of Windows files on the computer.Use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted sys-tem files on Windows on Windows 8http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-usLet us know if it helps.
