    More Focus on Remedial Measures:

    In February, Housing Reconstruction Centre Abbaspur has focused onremedial measures of non-compliant houses which is a major problemseen in the area. The technical teams, in collaboration with the otherdepartments, are working hard to address this problem with remedies.The objective behind these remedial measures is to train the localcommunity on how to correct mistakes in their houses. HRC Abbaspurhas set its goal to have the maximum number of compliant houses built

    in its area.

    MAIN ACTIVITIES:

    The main activities include:Identification of Households for Remedial MeasuresCapacity building of Artisans & Self builders in remedial measurestrainingIdentification of Model houses and Self BuildersMobilization for compliant houses

    Regular VRC MeetingsAwareness campaign about ERRA Guidelines

    REMEDIAL MEASURES:

    Since the earthquake, the EarthquakeReconstruction and RehabilitationAuthority (ERRA) has adopted an ownerdriven assistance approach for the post-earthquake rural housing reconstruction;beneficiaries have been contacting HRC

    Abbaspur for guidance. They want toknow more about remedial measuresand get work started on their houses toimplement remedial measures.According to this policy individualfamilies are responsible for rebuilding their houses while being providedfinancial and technical assistance. In regards to remedial measures

    working to keep VRCs fully active at the village level. In this regard,social teams are conducting regular VRC meetings and have engagedVRCs in achieving targets assigned to technical teams. On February22nd, a cluster meeting was held in Union Council Bhanitini of TehsilHajira. About 150 members of seven VRCs of Union Council Bhanitiniparticipated in that meeting. The participants chose Presidents and aSecretary of the cluster VRC. The notables of Hajira participated in thismeeting, including member of the legislative assembly Mr. Gulam Sadiq.The participants praised the role of Village Reconstruction Committeesand insisted to start work on the registration of these VRCs. The HRCAbbaspur teams told the participants that registration of these VRCs willbe started soon.

    NCRS:

    Work on the Non-Compliant ReferralSystem (NCRS) has started. JointInspection Teams are meant toidentify houses for NCRS, makesuggestions to house owners forremedial measures and approvecompliant houses. Technical teamsof HRC Abbaspur along with AITeams are tasked to identify themistakes in such houses and referthose mistakes to the Non-Compliant Referral System (NCRS).Currently the HRC Abbaspur technical members are working in PatwarCircle Chatra as one team. By February 25th, technical teams will workin two groups: one in Patwar Circle (PC) Chatra and the other in Chaffar.To date, the HRC Abbaspur technical teams have recommended elevenhouses for the last tranche of Rs. 50,000 and advised seventeen housesfor remedial measures.
