    OPERATING

    INSTRUCTION

    Peak pressures

Engine type This bulletin concerns WRTSILVasa 32, 32GD, 32LN and 32LNGDengines.

General The level of mechanical stress put on the engine components is directlyrelated to the peak pressure (firing pressure) of the engine.

Note! Too high peak pressure will increase the risk of engine failure and humaninjury.

Factors with an influence on peak pressures are e.g.

    Injection timing

    Compression ratio

    Charge air pressure

    Ambient temperature

    Fuel quality

The table below shows the maximum allowed continuous peak pressuredepending on which type of connecting rod the engine is fitted with.

Note! Engines with lower rating have lower maximum allowed peak pressuresthan listed below.

    Maximum allowed continuous peak pressure

    Type of Connecting Rod (bar)

    O-profile 145

    H-profile 155

    Three-piece 165

    See also bulletins,

3201N023, Injection timing and max. combustion pressures

    WV01Q099, Measuring firing pressures

Recommendation Contact Wrtsil for more information if the maximum allowed peakpressure has been exceeded for longer periods.
