Welcome to the 2010-2011 academic year! We’ve been eagerly awaiting your arrival to campus and hope you are equally excited to get things underway.

After you unpack and settle in, you will have an opportunity to touch base with your Resident Assistants and the Residence Director of your building – all great resources for you. Note that floor meetings will be held Tuesday, September 7th. Check the Emmanuel Portal for all floor updates.

You will also receive more details on residence life as part of your Welcome Week packet.Until then, here are a few helpful tips for making move-in day and your year a success:

Set Up: Your furniture is moveable – it doesn’t have to stay set up the way you find it when you arrive – so organize your room the way you and your roommate(s) want it!

Communicate: Be open with your roommate(s) about your expectations, be willing to

compromise, and discuss your daily schedules so you can be on the same page! Don’t forget to keep the conversation going throughout the school year.

Ask: Do not hesitate to ask questions, whether it is with your roommate(s), Resident

Assistant or Resident Director. Utilize your resources!

Get Involved: You won’t be spending all of your time in your room. So be sure to get involved with the many clubs, organizations and activities we have on campus!

A Message from Residence Life:

1The obvious choice for study space on campus, the two floors of the library include ample seating and tables, not to mention 50 individual studying carrels. You have access to computer stations and the assistance of our helpful library staff. Also, visit the Academic Resource Center (ARC) on the ground floor.

Open to all students day and night, each of the building’s four floors feature an atrium outfitted with chairs, sofas and tables ready for use. Be sure to check out the center’s breakout and conference rooms, which can be accessed with your Emmanuel ID card.

In addition to your rooms, each of the four residence halls have main lounges available for your studying needs. Highlighted areas above include: Hynes Square in Julie Hall, Saint Ann Hall’s Lounge, The Recreation Room in Saint Joseph Hall and Loretto Hall’s Lounge.

It may be the hub of campus, but it’s also a great place to get your schoolwork done. There’s plenty of seating on the lower atrium while the second floor serves as a popular place for students to come read, write and meet with class groups.
