University has special training base near Ukhta with its own oil&gas resources, forests, unique

research laboratories in each academic department, 12 laboratory buildings, 10 student

hostels, 2 sports complexes, 1 recreational complex (outside of the city), and geology-

educational base.

USTU collaborates with all leading oil and gas industry enterprises of Russian Federation, including Komi Republic, and foreign partners (oil&gas, mining, geology, timber, and building industries).

Strategic partners of the University: Gazprom, Lukoil, Rosneft, Transneft, Zarubezhneft, and many others.

The University organizes unique annual international conferences: Gas industry conference named after G.V.Rassokhin (February), International scientific youth conference «Severgeoecotekh» (March), Professional conference for teaching staff (April), Humanitarian conference «Communications. Society. Spirituality.» (April), Conference on heavy (high viscosity) oil (November), International partnership forum «Integration», and many others.

Every academic department has a big number of special and unique laboratories for lectures, practical work, and research provided by federal financing and supported by oil&gas and other industrial companies

USTU technology partners: Intel, Microsoft, Roxar, Schlumberger, Autodesk, Oracle, Cisco and others.

There are 12 productive and successful research schools at our university, such as special institute of oil&gas industry. Actual projects and research are being done there with the latest technologies for all leading enterprises of oil&gas and other industries of Russia.Among them we need to underline research school of new technologies for production of heavy (high-viscosity) oil with production based on steam heating technologies. In 2009, USTU started innovational project on heavy oil in special area of LUKOIL Yarega oil mines (there are only 2 such unique places in the world where oil production is acting on mines and steam technology – in Canada and in Ukhta (Yarega village).

USTU has its own deposit of oil&gas that is being used by students and teaching staff for practice and research work purposes.

USTU’s international activities are aimed at increasing the quality of education and preparing of specialists, developing of international relations and cooperation with partners.• Education programs (in Russian and English), training, and seminars with enterprises;• International projects and cooperation programs, education and culture / visitor tours

Throughout the years of productive cooperation, our students have had the opportunity to study at the leading educational institutions of Germany, USA, Canada, Norway, Finland, China, South Korea, Malta. Also, USTU has general cooperation agreements with universities of many other countries.

Student lifeThere are different facilities for USTU and foreign students:

- 10 comfortable hostels, recreational complex “Planet University”

- more than 41 different sports sections (including volleyball, basketball, soccer, swimming, ski, snowboarding, horse back riding, boxing, judo, track and field, hockey, ice skating, dance, and many others), professional league sports team - university basketball team “Planet University“, which is playing in Russian Championship super league.

- Every year, USTU students have an opportunity to work during their summer break by joining the Regional Students’ Construction Group ‘Severyanin’.
