Michael, a fourth generation Floridian derives his imagery from the subtropics. Enns started paint-ing with famed landscape painter Albert E. (Bean) Backus at age ten. Backus’ influence as a painter of realism was a new genre for Mr. Enns who was more fanciful and abstract with his art. The life force and pattern were always of enormous importance to the young artist. The symbols of Catholicism and the sim-ple forms of plant and animal life became iconic in his three-dimensional constructions.

After graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York City he began silk-screen printing with Andy Warhol and worked with that artist until his death in 1987. Enns continued his exploration of tropical and religious forms during this time showing at different East Village venues and showing at Gotham Fine Arts. Enns’ interest in printing expanded and he worked with other “celebrity” artists like Rauschenberg, Ha-ring, Basquiat and Scavullo.

After 15 years in New York, he decided to discover his “Southern roots” and began an association with artist Jon Eiseman in Atlanta, GA. Interiors are very important to the Southern sensibility and the two created environmental works such as growing grass on walls, rock walls and ceilings, and walls of rusted nails and screws. There were, of course, less radical approaches as well because of the conservative out-look there. Enns painted more murals than he can count. Along with Eiseman, their public works include Bell South for Sci-Trek museum and the Childrens Mu-seum of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Robyn first began exploring her love of art in the mid-1980s as a young college student studying Graphic Design and Photography. Learning to see her world through a viewfinder while developing her in-tuitive understanding of form and color, composition became a huge visual force. An introductory course in painting opened her eyes to where her artistic pas-sions lay, however, it took nearly ten years before she picked up the brush again.

While she works predominantly with the human form, it is in large part only a vehicle for her to ex-plore color, shape and brushwork. She manipulates proportion to push the viewer to transcend what they know. She wants the viewer to engage first on a visceral level - to see the beyond the breast, beyond the face, beyond the cultural notions of beauty. And whether her work takes you underwater - where the you may be challenged by what is below the surface, or sets you up to purposefully not be seen by the subject in the painting, or confront you by strong, ca-pable women proudly bearing their tools, she hopes that when you first see her work, you have an imme-diate reaction. Be it good or bad - Robyn wants you to feel first, and then ask yourself why.

Robyn has exhibited in Chicago, Detroit, Amherst, Bridgeport, Flagstaff, and Miami. She has various pieces in private collections nationally. She was a partner in the Four Fine Arts gallery in the Design Dis-trict in 2007-08. Her technical illustrations have been published in Nature, Science, Herpetological Mono-graphs and Natural History magazine.
