We have begun the year reviewing lab safety.
We will be performing many labs to help your child’s understanding of the physical properties of matter!
We are working on multiplication and arrays. Your child will benefit greatly if they practice their multiplication each night at home! We have links for games on our websites to help learn multiplication.
*Students will be learning how to turn their “stories” into great compositions full of detail and captivation.
10-15 minute mini-lesson
30 minute independent writing time
5 minute sharing/closing
*Spelling Words and Word Work will be handed out every Monday morning, and turned in every Friday morning. We will also have a Spelling test every Friday.
Reader’s workshop allows the students to use their strategies to become better independent readers and thinkers.
10-15 minute mini-lesson
40 minute independent read/work time
5-10 minute sharing/closing
In 4th grade, we study Texas, Texas, and more Texas!
We are starting off looking at the geography of our state and learning how to use geographic tools.
Students are asked to enter quietly and not to talk until they sit at their table. This helps the ladies hear what students are saying to them at the counter! The last ten minutes of lunch are silent to allow our social butterflies the opportunity to finish their lunch!
We have a 20 minute recess followed by a 10 minute restroom break.
When it rains, we watch a video in the classroom. We will also be taking some virtual field trips during this time.
Math homework is sent home on some Mondays, for the week. It is checked each morning at the beginning of math class.
Reading log - Students are expected to read 100 minutes a week, 20 minutes a night on Monday through Friday.*Homework grades will not be recorded in the gradebook
4th grade operates on a classroom economic system. We pay for good behavior and following directions!
At the end of each 6 weeks, we will have something similar to a store where we provide items for all the students to be able to purchase. We are always looking for donated items to help out!
