SUMMARY:

This position works with the Senior Director, Human Resources to lead any initiatives related to becoming an employer of choice and ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal laws. The position requires a broad working knowledge of human resources with an emphasis in employee relations, recruitment and associate onboarding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

1. Understand the best practices and concepts of being an employer of choice and assist the Senior Director, Human Resources in customizing the details to meet the needs of the Redistribution Center (RDC) facilities and Central Warehouse locations. Develop proactive steps in employee relations by managing the process of work climate surveys, communication with associates at all levels to understand issues and work towards resolution.

1. Assist the Senior Director, Human Resources in the administration of appropriate policies, practices, and processes in compliance with state and federal laws.

1. Provide human resources support to the RDC facilities and Central Warehouse locations.

1. Work in conjunction with the Senior Director, Human Resources in coordinating the benefit administration program. Schedule and conduct new associate benefit enrollment meetings. Become knowledgeable and retain updated knowledge in the associate benefit plans in order to answer questions that might arise.

1. Recruit, interview, test, screen, and assist with the selection of associates to fill necessary vacancies. Administer the post-offer processes.

1. Conduct new associate orientation to foster positive attitudes toward company goals and strategies.

1. Conduct stay interviews with new associates.

1. Assist the Senior Director, Human Resources in appropriate associate training, to include supervisory training and general associate training.

1. Advise the Senior Director, Human Resources in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues. Conduct fact-based investigations and complete the necessary documentation when employee relations issues arise.

1. Administer the performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.

1. Conduct and complete wage surveys when appropriate, report results, and prepare an action plan to the Senior Director, Human Resources for consideration.

1. Prepare associate separation notices and related documentation. Conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind voluntary separations.

1. Prepare and provide requested information and documentation to the third-party administrator for unemployment claims and participate in fact-finding interviews.

1. Support the various RDC cultures (attendance, safety, performance, and quality) by attending scheduled departmental meetings and working with the leadership team as it relates to any follow-up action as a result of the meeting.

1. Assist with administration of the corrective action program.

1. Assist with reception area-related activities including complying with security requirements relating to entrance into the building via the visitor access system and following all policies relating to security, handling customer/visitor related issues, etc.

1. Assist in planning and coordinating all associate relations events, to include but not limited to the associate picnic, holiday breakfast, and other Company sponsored social events.

1. Assist with the administration of various leaves of absence, to include FMLA.

1. Attend, as a member, Company committee meetings.

1. Perform payroll administrator duties in the absence of the RDC Payroll Administrator.

1. Assist with creating the Company newsletter.

1. Assist with developing various reports to be viewed and utilized at multiple levels of management.

1. Maintain records, accurate files and filing systems; type memos, letters and email correspondence.

1. Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Associate Handbook, etc.).

1. Comply with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations and policies (i.e. OSHA, HACCP, BRC, etc.)

1. Accept additional responsibilities or special projects as requested. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required. Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in human resources strongly desired. A minimum of three years of human resource administration and/or generalist experience at the exempt level required. A minimum of three years of FMLA leave administration and employee relations experience required. Background in developing and conducting leadership training is a plus.

Human Resources experience in a distribution, manufacturing, or warehouse environment preferred.

Working knowledge of HR processes, employment and labor laws, and government regulations including EEOC, Wage and Hour/FLSA, and OFCCP is required. The ability to work with and relate well to others is critical. Continuing education (workshops, seminars, conferences) in human resources strongly desired.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook) and in human resource information and payroll systems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Must have ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Must have ability to investigate associate complaints, effectively document notes pertaining to the investigation and prepare an investigation summary for management and/or legal counsel.

Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with individuals of broadly varying backgrounds and educational levels.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Must be able to work in a proactive manner, address issues, and solve problems by using previous education and experience in identifying appropriate actions. Problems will vary in complexity and there will not always be a clearly defined solution. Some solutions may require modifying past applications or creating a solution unique to the current situation, but within the regulations that would apply.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Professional or Senior Professional in Human Resources certification strongly desired.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Job is performed in an office environment, but some time may be spent in the operations or training areas. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is seldom exposed to freezer/cooler warehouse environments. The noise level in the work environment usually is moderate.

WORK HOURS:

This is a full-time position. The incumbent must have the ability to work a varying schedule which might include shift work (days or nights), weekdays or weekends, and some holidays. Work hours may vary or change based on departmental requirements.

TRAVEL:

Some travel may be required to support the business needs of the RDCs and Central Warehouses.
