Goal of Program
• To prepare youth to meet their responsibilities as individuals in our society by guiding the students to employment conditions and developing desirable attitudes toward school, employment, social and civic responsibilities.
• The course offers the opportunity for the students to work in the field that they believe to be their career choice. It helps to determine whether their choice is the right one before continuing their education.
Who can be in the program?
• Minimum 16 years old & must be able to provide their own method of transportation
• Hold valid work documentation (SS Card)
• Already have a job that meets HSP approval or be willing to apply and get one during the 1st week of school
• Must be accepted into the program

Approved Jobs Must provide a pay sub with taxes deducted May not be more than 10 miles from the school May not involve driving (i.e. pizza delivery) Must be willing to give ~10 hours/week Must pay via check (NOT cash)
**Students may NOT work for their parents or in any type of residence**
Grading System Established by FBISD for all HSP courses in
district:
• Classroom Work 50%
• Employer Evaluation 25%
• Tests/Projects/Time Report 25%
**Must maintain 70% overall to pass the class**
Time Requirements
• 10 hours a week• 90 hours a 9 weeks• 170 hours a semester• 340 hours a year
**must meet time requirements to get credit for the course**
The first ten minutes of class
• Retrieve your binder and fill hours worked the day before on your time report.
• Give Mrs. Subzwari a copy of your check stub (if you were paid)
• Complete classroom warm-up
**Time reports are due every nine weeks and count as a MAJOR grade**
Misc. Information• Supplies are provided this year• Make sure you get all of your paperwork signed by your parents
and employer• Be sure to keep up with your time sheet and attendance record• Make your dentist and doctor appointments after school or on
days off since you must go to school in order to go to work that day!!!

Always be on time. Call Mrs. Subzwari if you are sick/plan on being
absent Dress appropriately Take criticism well- learn from your mistakes Follow company rules concerning breaks Have a cheerful attitude with co-workers Be considerate, cooperative, and respectful Be loyal to your me and your company

activities (seminars, workshops, social functions)
Training Station Don'ts• Never receive visitors• Do not abuse the telephone – no personal calls• Do not gripe• Do not chew gum• Never participate in office gossip• Do not act immature at work

• Do not stop working until it is time to go home
• Do not take request days off excessively (plan your days off in advance)• NEVER quit a work – based training
placement without talking to Ms. Subzwari• NEVER be dishonest with money,
merchandise, time or effort• Avoid dating someone at work
Successful Employment Grade
This (daily) grade is earned by maintaining high standards related to successful employment. Everyone begins with a 100 .
The following points will be deducted from your grade: 10 ABILITY TO FOLLOW BOTH ORAL AND WRITTEN RULES
(BREAKING SCHOOL RULES, CLASS RULES, CELL PHONES, ISS, ETC.)
-5 PRACTICE PUNCTUALITY(EACH TARDY TO CLASS, LATE TO WORK)
-10 PRACTICE DEPENDABILITY
(EACH DAY YOU DO NOT CALL AND NOTIFY THE TEACHER IF ABSENT) -10 DOES NOT EXHIBIT PRODUCTIVE WORK HABITS AND ATTITUDES
(TALKING, DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR, PLAYING AROUND, PLAYING GAMES ON THE INTERNET DURING CLASS WORK) -30 NOT WORKING
(DOES NOT HAVE A JOB AT THE END OF THE NINE WEEKS GRADING PERIOD) -50 FIRED FROM JOB
