This course aims to increase awareness of safeguardingand protecting children, helping coaches to recognisesigns of abuse and poor practice, and deal sensitively andeffectively with issues that arise.
It also prompts a review of coaching practice to ensurethat sport provides a positive and enriching experiencefor children. Delegates must be 18 or over, 16 & 17 yearolds can attend if chaperoned by an adult.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
> Identify and recognise good practice and implicationsfor children and young people
> Explore children’s values and feelings in relation tochild abuse, and recognise how these may potentiallyimpact on your response
> Recognise and respond to the signs and symptoms ofchild abuse and poor practice

An introduction to Strength & Conditioning for Coaches - this course will be delivered by Latus Training and isaimed at all technical coaches. It aims to offer anintroduction to the principles of good strength andconditioning practice and will feature a mixture oftheory and practical elements.
The workshop will primarily focus on giving coachessome basic movement assessment tools and correctivestrategies for common movement problems, whichprevent athletes from safely engaging in strengthconditioning programmes.
As a coach, you will instinctively know when a player has'Mental Toughness' but the difficulty is explaining what itis to someone else or how to harness and grow it withinthe context of your sport.
This session is aimed at explaining what mentaltoughness is, how to identify it and more importantlyhow to develop it in players/athletes using a frameworkbased on positive psychology. Coaches and athletes willleave the seminar with tools to develop themselves
NUTRITION FOR OPTIMUMPERFORMANCE

The Go Spike Activator award has been developed byStreetGames in partnership with Volleyball England. Theworkshop will provide volunteers, young people, youthworkers, community sports coaches and leaders with gameideas, basic rules and fun ways to introduce volleyball toyoung people in their community.
The workshop explains various LTA developed fun formats andteaches the fundamentals of movement. Introducing a rangeof tennis programmes, including touch tennis, tennis freestyle,short tennis, street tennis and freestyle tennis. Participantsalso receive guidance on different competition formats,including singles and doubles, and learn a range of challengesand activities to develop young people’s racket skills.
Introducing the basic components of athletics, running,throwing and jumping, and how to organise and deliverinformal athletics activity in a community setting.Demonstrating how informal athletic activity can take place ina sports hall, park or car park. Participants also learn how torun easy competitions based on the 3 components of athletics.
Developed by StreetGames and Rounders England, theworkshop provides learners with game ideas and the basicrules of Rounders in order to introduce the sport to youngpeople in their community.
This workshop provides participants with skills to run funbasketball sessions for young people. Introducing thebasic techniques of the sport. Participants learn a rangeof activities and games which help develop playersunderstanding and skills whilst also receiving guidanceon organising informal leagues and competitions.
The workshop provides an introduction to ETTAs InstantPing Pong. Full with ideas on how best to develop tabletennis skills in a community setting. Focusing on gettingpeople playing, introduces games, mini competitions andshows how to make best use of surfaces at your disposal.
These workshops introduce the basic components ofthe particular sport and how to organise and deliverinformal activities in a community setting. Theyprovide existing community sports and youth workerswith the skills to introduce new activities to the groupsthey work for.
ALL COURSE PREREQUISITESThere are no compulsory pre-requisites for these workshops.They offer the chance to build on skills previously gainedthrough courses such as the Sports Leaders UK Level 1, 2 and3 awards; National Governing Bodies of sports awards; andyouth and community qualifications.
