GETTING ELECTED

Children put themselves forward to be School Council and presented to their class saying why they thought that they are suitable for the role. The class then elect the people who they think would be good for the post. Our photos and roles are displayed outside the hall.

We also have an Eco Council who are displayed on the other board. The Eco Council are involved in our recycling and growing fruit and vegetables in our gardens. We have a noticeboard that displays our action plan and the impact that we are having.

WE ADVERTISED JOBS IN SCHOOL This year we are organised for our pupils to apply for

jobs in school. Our children filled out an application form and in our student council meetings we read and evaluated the forms to decide if they had been successful in their application. We organised the successful candidates to have an interview. We have recruited Lunchtime Leader s and here are the questions we prepared for interview.

HARVEST FESTIVAL We invited the elderly people in St Ann’s to

our Harvest Festival and afterwards we talked to people in the community and served tea and biscuits and packed up their food parcels for them. This year we took our visitors on a tour of our school and showed them our greenhouse. They thought it was brilliant.

Prince Harry even visited our Eco Garden this year.

CHRISTMAS

We worked hard with our Site Manager, staff and kitchen staff to make our Christmas dinner really special. We sent out invitations to our teachers and teaching assistants to sit in the dinner hall with us. We worked with Mr Bartlam to decorate the hall.

SPRING

We have been working with the school councils across L.E.A.D to plan exciting trips for the Summer term. We enjoyed meeting other schools and sharing our ideas. We presented to all the school council in L.E.A.D. about how we run our school council meetings and they were so impressed with our ideas that they came to our meeting. Miss Perry from our Board of Governors also came to this meeting.

NEW STAFF IN SCHOOL

We were very pleased this year to be invited to interview for our new Deputy Head of school. These are the questions that we asked.

1) Why do you want to work at Huntingdon?

2) What do you know about L.E. A.D. Academy Trust and why would you like to be part of L.E.A.D?

3) What do you think you could bring to Huntingdon to make it even better?

4) What would you do if a child came to you and said they were being bullied?

5) What is your opinion about pupil voice? How open and available will you be to listen to our ideas?

WEBSITE

Mrs Riley has created a School Council Section on our website. Next year the School Council plan to put regular updates and news on our section of the website.

We have enjoyed being on the school council and feel we have made a difference to the running of the school. We hope the next chair and vice chair will continue to develop the pupil voice at Huntingdon even further.
