HURRICANESBy: Garrett Revell
What it looks like
A hurricane is a huge storm with high winds and devastating forces
It is like a swirling vortex of thunderstorm
If you look at a hurricane from satellite it’s a like a big white swirling vortex with a eye in the center
If you were to watch a hurricane without getting harmed it would be amazing
How it forms
Hurricanes form in the ocean and near the equator
Air from surrounding areas with higher air pressure pushes in to the low pressure area
Then that new air becomes warm and moist and rises too
As the warm continues to rise , the surrounding air swirls in to take its place forming a hurricane
What it does
A hurricane as it moves swirls in a clockwise pattern and usually last at least an hour
It can cause a lot of damage like ripping the roof and shingles right off the house/building , put a lot of people out of there homes, destroys property, and cause floods
Like I said before hurricanes can put people homeless and cause many deaths and injuries
Other factors not covered
There is different categories of hurricanes, but if it was as high as it could go it would be a category 5 which winds reach up to over 155mph
These storms occur in the warmer waters in the ocean near the equator
Before it is classified as a hurricane it is a tropical storm
And if a hurricane is big enough it is named alphabetically
