Got a Bible near you? Get it open and look up
2 Corinthians 1: 8 – 11. I’ve been living in this passage for a
number of weeks now. Paul is writing not wanting people to
be uninformed about the troubles they had experienced. He
wants the reader to know, they have experienced great
pressures – in fact beyond their ability to endure and the re-
sult of this was they despaired for life itself. He says, “Indeed,
we felt we had received the sentence of death.” Wow!! You
had times like this? Maybe right now you are in the midst of
great pressures. Well keep reading...He says, “This happened
that we might not rely on ourselves but on God – who raises
the dead.” What is God chasing in the midst of great
pressures? That you and I would not rely on ourselves but
rely on God – who raises the dead! Praise the Lord!! It seems
to me, it is ok to say to God, “I can’t do this… I have not got
the ability to lead in this situation…. I’m looking to you God.
I’m relying on you.”
Keep reading, Paul goes on to say.. “He delivered us from
such a deadly peril and He will deliver us again.” Take a look
at your own walk with Him. He has delivered you in the past
and hear the word of the Lord for you today – “He will deliver
you again!!” Why not, speak that out loud right now just
where you are – “He will deliver me again.”
Paul concludes this focus by saying, “On Him we have set our
hope that He will continue to deliver us.” So often what leaves
us in the midst of problems and pressures is hope. I call you
to put your hope in Him again today. Paul finishes by saying,
“as you help us by your prayers.” Think about this. We help
when we pray. Do you want to help others at Hutt City - then
pray for them. You are helping them as you pray. Believe it.
So, close the Bible you are reading and look to God and tell
Him – “my hope is in you Lord. I believe you are the God who
raises the dead. I believe you can deliver me and you can
deliver all those who are going through circumstances that
seem like the “death sentence”.
Press on this coming week. Press on in confidence & in hope.
God Bless you Ivan & Glenda

Welcome Everyone...
At Hutt City we exist to bring people into a life changing relationship with God. Children are valued and are welcome even if they make a
bit of noise. Children are invited to attend Kids Church during the meeting, there is also a Creche for children 0-2 years of age.
Our Chinese Fellowship also runs during the service.
You are welcome to stay on after the service and join us for morning tea and chat.
Kingdom Conference: A number of people have been attending Kingdom conference at Tawa over Friday, Saturday & Sunday, so you will notice a few gaps today. This has been an awesome opportunity to pursue more of His Holy Spirit. Great to have Mike Carrington preaching here at Hutt City today.
Glenda will be having surgery on Wednesday 29th May and will then need six weeks recovery. Meals would be appreciated and if you are able to assist with this please contact Toga. Continued prayer would be appreciated for all the family.
Mark and Jo have welcomed a Daughter, Gemma, into their family. Jo & Gemma are now home. Please contact Mark prior to visiting, calling or dropping off meals.
Maori Ministries Central Division:
Some of you may have attended a Central Division Māori Ministry Leader-
ship Consultation Hui in Porirua last November. As a follow up to this, a
further consultation hui will be held at Porirua Corps on 4th June beginning
with kai at 6pm. Other similar consultation hui are being held in other divi-
sions around the country over the next two months. I apologise for the
short notice but there are factors that have made it necessary to hold our
hui on this date.
These hui will all be facilitated by Rev. Amiria Te Whiu who is based in
Waitangi.
