HW - Applemore to Noadswood This is the second suggested walk that you can get to without going too far from your home. As you can see it covers a completely different area to the last walk. Over a period of time there will be suggestions in different areas. This time I have taken some pictures of some turn points in the hope it helps with your navigating. For those that use Viewranger the walk and its instructions can be found by searching for NFWfH0076 or HW - Applemore to Noadswood. Page 1 of 4 NFWfH0076 A B C D E F G H

This walk can be followed from anywhere close to the route (we walked it from Dibden Purlieu) and follow until you get back home. The letters on the map relateto the letters in the description so its easier to pick up anywhere in the route. The walk is about 2.6 miles long. My description starts near the roundabout between Tesco and Applemore Recreation Centre where there is a tarmac surfaced footpath heading away from the roundabout. (A)

Follow the footpath for about 550 yards, ignoring all left joining paths. Also ignore the first tarmaced right joining path and take the second (its just before the road).

At the end you are on Beechwood Way (B), cross the road into Oakenbrow and immediately enter the footpath that leads to Beechwood Way Pond. Follow the broad path up the left side of the pond

Do stop and admire the pond, its the first of two on this walk.

At the top end of the pond, take the smaller path which starts by going left and then carries on in the same direction as you were walking. This section can be muddy at times, but is nearly always passable with care.

Follow this path for 210 yards to the next road, Oaklands Way (C), cross it and continue along footpath opposite, ignoring the path off to left. This should bring you to a bridge.

Cross the bridge and walk around Oaklands pond.

Leave the pond just past the landing platform and walk up the tree lined avenue towards Nash Road

Turn left when you get to the road and walk up the gentle slope to Noadswood School (D). At the corner turn left, going past the school main entrance and through the bollards onto the footpath. When you come to the end of that path, cross the road and follow the path opposite until you come to a road. Turnright to Challenger Way (E).

Cross the road to the bus stop opposite, and take the footpath straight in front of you.

Almost immediately you enter the wooded area, take the left hand woodland path. Follow this for 90 yards to a T-junction and take the right hand path. Follow this path ignoring all side paths joining. Cross the bridge and continue.

Just after crossing a wooden platform over a ditch takethe right hand path. Follow this path around until it comes out into an open grassed area. (F)

Walk across the grass to the path dead ahead betweenthe shrubs and the trees. Follow this path uphill and until it becomes a gravel track. Continue down steppedgravel path ignoring side tracks and keeping houses onyour left.

This brings you out to Corsair Drive. Cross the road to a footpath that runs down beside the houses in front of you. This footpath turns left and goes along the bottom of some gardens.

Where the path meets another footpath joining from the left, turn right on a metalled path which travels around the edge of two fields towards the Claypits Lane recreation ground buildings. Walk along beside the 5-a-side football pitches, passing the building and into the car park. There is a gate out onto Claypits Lane directly in front of you by a big yellow bin. (G)

Turn left onto Claypits Lane, carefully cross at the roundabout (H) to continue along the lane. Crossing where you need to remain on the footpath. At the t-junction turn right, crossing road by the Cumberland Way road sign and continue towards Tesco and the endof the walk.
