DewEze Clutch Pump Kit 700567
RAM 6.4L Gas, 2014+, AA Pump INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. The installation of this kit requires trained
decision-making concerning clearances, tying components together, rerouting, or relocating OEM components, etc. It is impossible to describe all of the clearance and vibration points, etc. in the installation instructions. Therefore, the technician must exercise professional judgment to achieve the best quality installation.
2. Disconnect battery. Remove engine belt. 3. Remove three bolts (10) at Location A that attach
power steering pump to front engine cover by accessing bolts through holes in steering pump pulley. Save the bolts as they will be reused. Move pump/reservoir assembly to the side towards the fender temporarily. Remove bolt in front engine cover directly below the power steering pump at Loc. B. This bolt will not be reused.
4. Slightly loosen the bolt mounting the electrical
noise suppressor located below the alternator (Fig. 4). Bend the mounting tab to 90°. Rotate the suppressor counterclockwise as far as it will go and tighten the bolt.
5. Install DewEze pump bracket (1) using three
supplied M8 x 80 flange bolts (6) in the same location the power steering pump was bolted (Location A) and one M8 X 120 flange bolt (7) in lower bracket hole (Location B).
6. Reinstall power steering pump onto the DewEze
bracket at Location C using three OEM bolts (10) that were removed earlier.
7. Install two idlers (2) onto pump bracket as shown using two M10 X 40 bolts (8).
8. Hold the pump in place on the bracket before
bolting it in to check the following: The metal A/C lines in the pump area will need to be carefully bent away from the pump body and fittings for clearance. The oil dipstick tube may need to be bent up to clear the pump. The power steering line that attaches to the bottom of the power steering pump may need to be loosened to be
rotated or bent as needed for clearance to the clutch and belt. Retighten line.
9. Hold pump (3) onto back of pump plate (1) and clutch hub (4i) onto front of bracket. Place two 3/8 x 1 1/4 socket head bolts (9) and 3/8 high collar lock washers (11) through pump, through mounting plate and thread into hub. Torque to 20 lb-ft.
10. Slide coil (4a) over hub, aligning hole in the
back plate of coil with the anti-rotation pin in the hub. The wires from the coil should be on the same side as the pin. Install large snap ring (4b) to hold coil in place.
NOTE: THE BEVEL ON BOTH SNAP RINGS MUST FACE AWAY FROM THE PUMP. REFER TO INSTRUCTION SHEET FOR THE CLUTCH FOR CORRECT INSTALLATION OF SNAP RINGS.
11. Slide clutch pulley (4c) onto hub. Install small
snap ring (4d) to hold pulley in place.
12. Place the key onto the pump shaft. Slide the hub/armature (4f) onto the pump shaft aligning the keyways.
NOTE: SET THE AIR GAP BETWEEN THE HUB/ARMATURE AND THE PULLEY USING SHIMS (4e) ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTION SHEET FOR CLUTCH.
13. Thread bolt (4g) and lock washer (4h) into
pump shaft. Torque to value in clutch instruction sheet.
14. Place Adel clamp (14) over clutch wire and attach clamp to upper corner of pump bracket with 1/4 x 1/2 flange bolt (13).
15. Install belt (12) supplied with kit per routing
diagram. Recheck all clearances. Reconnect battery.
16. If your truck has a plastic engine cover, it may
need to be notched to clear the bracket and pump assembly.
17. Start engine, test functions, inspect installation
for any problems.
Installing the Warner AA clutch Hub, Coil and Rotor/Pulley are preassembled by Warner. Armature is shipped loose along with Hardware Kit (consisting of center bolt, washer and shims) Step 1: Slide the Hub/Coil/Rotor/Pulley Assembly onto the pump shaft and secure to pump face using pump manufacturer supplied bolts through the two bolt holes. Step 2: Place two shims onto pump shaft on top of rotor face. Slide armature onto shaft and measure air gap between the Armature and Rotor. Repeat this step and add shims as needed (more or less than 2) to acquire 0.02 – 0.04” air gap between the rotor and armature. Check air gap at 3 locations 1200 apart. Step 3: Fasten center bolt and washer to face of pump shaft and tighten to 25 ft. lbs. torque. Failing to set the air gap correctly will cause premature pump failure due to axial load placed on the pump shaft.
Installing the Ogura AA clutch Hub, Coil and Rotor/Pulley are preassembled by Ogura. Repeat this step and add shims as needed (more or less than 2) to acquire 0.3 to 0.6mm (.011” to .023”) air gap between the rotor and armature. Check air gap at 3 locations 1200 apart. Step 3: Fasten center bolt and washer to face of pump shaft and tighten to 25 ft. lbs. torque. Failing to set the air gap correctly will cause premature pump failure due to axial load placed on the pump shaft.
