Concentration & Location
Hydrogen is the most abundant gas in
the universe
Exists in every living organism or
biomass
Hydrogen is concentrated in the
oceans in the form of H2O
Hydrogen does not naturally exist in its
pure gas form.

Success
Alternate forms of hydrogen allows
industrial companies to benefit by
processing metals
Hydrogen is utilized as fuel by
NASA to propel their shuttles in
space.
Hydrogen has been fairly
successful in acting as fuel cells to
function as batteries.

Obtainment of Hydrogen
Methods of obtaining hydrogen by
extracting hydrogen molecules
from compounds
Electrolysis- splitting the molecules of a
compound into its basic elements
Biomass gratification- heating
agricultural wastes and wood chips to
the point where they transform into
hydrogen and various gases.
Stream reforming- steam heating
systems used to separate the hydrogen
molecules from the compoundmethane
Usually used for industrial proposes

Advantages
Advantages of using hydrogen
energy:
Has a minimal environmental impact
as a fuel
Can be produced domestically and
reduces dependence on foreign oils More fuel efficient than gasoline-
powered cars
Hydrogen has 3 times the energy of
natural gas
Energy to produce hydrogen could
come from nuclear, solar, wind or lesspolluting sources of energy

Comparison of Net Energy
Hydrogen has a negative energy
compared to the other resources
This is due to the fact it takes a large
amount of energy and fossil fuels to
manufacture hydrogen molecules

Dependency on Hydrogen
Increase dependence on hydrogen
because:
It is renewable in contrast to fossil fuels
Emissions from hydrogen combustion
are water and heat which dont impact
the environment negatively. Technologies are being developed to
further the use of hydrogen so that it
can be produced, stored, and used
efficiently
It will decrease our dependence on
foreign oils and help provide a clean, efficient renewable resource for the
future.
