A principle learnt from nature

In nature, the humid atmosphere filters the sun’s heat radiation (= infrared radiation) to eliminate its harmful impact. Analogously, water-filtered infrared-A (wIRA) for therapeutical use involves a thin water layer in the radiation path to absorb those radation wavelengths emitted by an infrared source, which would otherwise harm the skin. wIRA penetrates into deeper tissue layers without overheating of the skin surface. Hence, with a higherradation intensity, therapeutic heating of the deeper tissue layers over longer periods of time can be achieved.

7-year old Hanoverian gel-ding, dressage horse, withpronounced steppage gait

Irradiation treatmentusing the hydrosun®-irradiator ceiling device

Irradiation of shoulder, pectoral muscles and haunches

• It is suspected that the horse s muscles had been overstrained during training. Various joint blockages of the cervical spine and the lumbar sacral region could be released through osteopathic treatment. However, a clearlyvisible improvement of muscles did only occur following manual mobilisation and treatment with water-filteredinfrared-A.

• After further training, the steppage gait has improved considerably and has almost disappeared. Trot and gallop inthe field are impressively good. Further rehabilitation will be complemented by wIRA-treatments.

“Warus”: Fibromyalgia

Indications for wIRA treatment

• Joint blockages• Mobility restrictions• Increased muscle tone• Muscle strain• Muscle shortenings• Enhancement of wound healing

Positive Effects of wIRA

• Pain relief• Anti-inflammatory effect• Increased tissue perfusion even

in deeper tissue layers• Muscle relaxation• Regeneration

“Esprit”: Strained Muscles

• Strained back muscles were noticeable at the time of acquisition. Perhaps caused by an incorrectly fitting saddle?- Various blockages on the left side of the neck and restricted joint movement in the left jaw. - Osteopathic treatment on the cervical spine between the 3rd and 5th cervical vertebra, jaw joint and hyoid bone

muscles, blockages in the thoracic/lumbar spine region and in the lumbar spine, tension in the brachiocephalicmuscle and the left pectoral muscles.

- High muscle tone of the erector muscle of the spine, the deep fascia of the thigh and the quadriceps femorismuscle.

• The mobile hydrosun ®-irradiator was used to treat shoulder, pectoral- and thigh muscles. Duration of treatmentsessions: 20 minutes, 3 times per week.

• Horse and rider won the dressage in the next tournament, the city championship.
