Hygiene Group were awardedCompany of the Year at last year’sSociety of Food Hygiene andTechnology (SOFHT) awards.Winners were announced at theindustry’s prestigious SOFHTLuncheon held at the RoyalGarden Hotel, Kensington.
Key to Hygiene’s success was itsrecognition that market leadershipis not retained by standing still. This has led to the companyinnovating new and uniqueprocesses, including rapid hygienetesting, dry steam and cryogeniccleansing. Hygiene won afterdemonstrating its marked
improvement in standards over the
last year, and for producing
outstanding results consistently.
Hygiene Group operations
manager Sian Thomas said:
“We are thrilled to win this
award and to be recognised as
achievers within the food industry.
Hard work and a dedicated
team have helped us get to
here and we’re proud to have
been rewarded with such
an achievement.”
Company of the Year category
was sponsored by Budgens
Stores Ltd and Rokill Ltd.
“Last year saw us take theCompany of the Year title at theprestigious Society of FoodHygiene and Technology(SOFHT) awards, recognising our continued improvement instandards, and for producingoutstanding results consistently. We hope to build on this successin 2007. Staying with awards, wewere only just pipped to the posthaving reached the finals of theFood Processing magazineawards. Maybe this year…
On the client side, there’s beenplenty of action at Cadbury TreborBassett (CTB). The work we do atBournville will cease to bemanaged by facilities companyADI, and instead return to thedirect management of CTB – asignificant step forward.
There has been enormous interestin our web-based data room, with
Masterfoods, United Biscuits andCTB already adopting the facility. We expect this interest to growwithin the industry.
Hygiene Stores UK has completedits centralisation, in Kings Norton, and continues to expand and winnew business.
And Neil Brown, our in-housebiologist with more than 20 years’food industry experience, hasmoved into a businessdevelopment role. He will continueto give us and our clients supporton a variety of technical issues, including microbiology, chemicalapplication and IT solutions.
Looking at the market sector, there’s been further consolidationby some of our competitors, which will continue to put pressureon our already hard pressedmargins, but should help to assert
our position as the leadingspecialist in our field.
This year presents an opportunityfor us to continue to expand thework we do in the logisticsindustry, develop the Reach andWash operation, and capitalise onthe work we already do forMorrisons and other retail clients.
Everyone has contributed to makea difficult 2006 a successful year, and we are now perfectlypositioned to take advantage ofthis in 2007.”

These are a few of my favourite things: Scott Fowler shares with us a few
of his favourite things!
Book – The Damage Done by
Warren Fellows
Film – Heat, starring my all time
favourite actor Al Pacino
Food & Drink – It’s got to be
Spaghetti Bolognese and cold
pints of lager
Car – Dodge Viper
Sport – Football. I support
Leicester City and play for my local
club Halcyon in Peterborough.
Holiday/Destination – Barcelona.
I’ve been there five or six times and
love it. I even took my wife there
for our honeymoon!
Music – Huge fan of Coldplay,
although I have yet to see them
play live.
Comedian – Billy Connolly always
makes me laugh.
Scott Fowler Account Manager for
the Midlands area has been with
Hygiene Group for 13 years.
The sight of window cleaners up
ladders brandishing bucket and
squeegee could soon be a thing of
the past thanks to The Reach &
Wash System. The Reach & Wash
team believes this ladder-less
method is the answer to the risks
associated with traditional
window cleaning.
Reach & Wash manager Trevor
Horne said: “Reach & Wash
pushes dirt away aggressively
using almost 100% pure water,
leaving glass, window frames,
cladding and signs clean without
the need for chemicals and
detergents.
“And it signals the beginning of
the end for old-school window
cleaners who rely on dangerous
ladders and expensive hydraulic
platforms.”
We wish the team all the success
in the future.
