  • Upgrade Path From Release ... To Release 11.1.2.3

    11.1.1.4.x Upgrade to Release 11.1.2.3.

Release 11.1.1.0.x to 11.1.1.3.x Apply the maintenance release to Release 11.1.1.4 and then upgrade to Release11.1.2.3.

An environment that includes multiple releases, which can include an environment with oneinstance of Oracle Hyperion Shared Services oran environment with two instances of SharedServices

See "Upgrading from an Environment with Multiple Releases" in the "Upgrading EPMSystem Products" chapter in the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management SystemInstallation and Configuration Guide.

Note: If you are starting from Release 9.2.0.3+, 9.3.0.x, 9.3.1.x (except for Oracle Essbase9.3.1.4.1, 9.3.1.5, 9.3.1.6, and 9.3.1.7), or 11.1.1.x, Oracle recommends that you first upgrade toRelease 11.1.1.3, then apply the maintenance release to Release 11.1.1.4, and then upgrade toRelease 11.1.2.3. If you are starting from an earlier release, Oracle recommends that you upgradeto the highest level release that directly supports upgrade from your starting release.

Security Synchronization between Essbase and Shared Services was removed in Essbase Release9.3, starting with Release 9.3.1.4.1. Essbase and Oracle Hyperion Shared Services Release 11.1.1.3,however, still synchronize security information. For this reason, if you are using Essbase Release9.3.1.4.1, 9.3.1.5, 9.3.1.6, or 9.3.1.7, you must first upgrade all products to Release 9.3.3, thenupgrade to Release 11.1.2.2, and then apply the maintenance release to Release 11.1.2.3.

Defects Fixed in this ReleaseThis section includes defects fixed in Release 11.1.2.3.000. To review the list of defects fixedbetween earlier releases, use the Defects Fixed Finder This tool enables you to identify theproducts you own and your current implementation release. With a single click, the tool quicklyproduces a customized report of fixed-defect descriptions with their associated platforms andpatch numbers. This tool is available here:

l 14456493 -- Using secure connection causes a duplicate connection for port 1423 in OracleHyperion Smart View for Office.

l 14344994, 14299362 -- IESSOLAPSERVER.GETLOGINID fails for SSL, causing the creationof a new Essbase connection to fail.

l 14636470 -- Importing text lists with spaces causes errors in JAPI.

l 14304843 -- The Java API IESSCUBE.GETDATALOADSTATUS returns a status of "DataLoaded" for empty cubes in aggregate storage applications.

l 14642332 -- Configuring Essbase and HFM on the same box causes both the HFM clusterand Essbase cluster to display under the Essbase node in Smart View client

  • Known IssuesThe following are the noteworthy known issues of this release.

l 8674073 -- In Smart Slice dimensions that contain more than 5000 members, not allmembers will be displayed when users zoom in on the dimension. To use Smart Slices ondimensions with more than 5000 members, in the essbase.properties file, located inEPM_ORACLE_INSTANCE\bin, set the propertyservice.olap.dataQuery.grid.maxRows=0 and increase maximum heap size to512M. Restart Provider Services.

l 11655006 -- Ensure that you use the correct syntax to specify secure mode. When you setthe OLAP_NAME to cluster URL, use the values yes or no to specify whether you wantto use secure mode, for example, OLAP_SERVER=http://:aps/Essbase?ClusterName=Win32Cluster-1&SecureMode=yes

All other values (for example, SecureMode=true or SecureMode=false) are invalid andare interpreted by Provider Services as SecureMode=no.

If you use invalid syntax, no error message is generated, nor is the connection halted. Therefore, if you were to enter SecureMode=true to specify secure communication, itwould be interpreted as SecureMode=no, and the connection would be made successfullybut not in secure mode.

l 11898620 -- When you use the Essbase cluster URL in a Java API client program runningin 3-tier APS mode, the Provider Services host used to resolve the Essbase cluster URL is theProvider Services host name to which the client is connected in the 3-tier mode; the ProviderServices host name within the Essbase Cluster URL is not used. These two references toProvider Services hosts are usually same. When you use the Essbase cluster URL in a JavaAPI client program running in embedded 2-tier mode, then the Provider Services host usedto resolve the Essbase cluster URL is the Oracle Hyperion Provider Services host name withinthe Oracle Essbase cluster URL.
