The depth adjustment ring allows you to adjust the

CHIP SHIELD

A clear plastic chip shield is installed on the front of therouter base for protection against flying dust and chips.Peel the horsepower label from chip shield and discard.

EFtGONOMtC DESIGN

The design of the router base provides for easyhandling. It is designed for comfort and ease of graspwhen operating in different positions and at differentangles.

LOCKING ARM

The locking arm secures the motor housing for theD-handle base.

iNSTALLiNG THE ROUTER MOTOR iN THEBASE

See Figures 2 and 3.

Follow these steps to install the router motor in thebase.

1. UnpUug the router.

.WARNING: Failure to unpUugthe tooUcouUd resuUtm serious injury due to accidentaU starting.

2. PUacethe base on a fiat surface.

3. Loosen the bcking arm.

4. AHgn the notch in the depth adjustment ring with theindicator point on the base.

5. Place the router motor upside down.

6. Align the spindle lock button with the groove in thebase.

7. Depress and hold the spindle lock button on themotor.

8. Slide the base onto the motor housing.

9. Turn the depth adjustment ring clockwise until thespindle lock button slides above the locking arm.

10. Tighten the locking arm.

REMOVING THE CHIP SHIELD

A clear plastic chip shield is instafled on the front of therouter base for protection against flying dust and chips.

WARNING: Do not use the router unless the chipshield is properly in place. Failure to heed thiswarning could result in serious injury.

Follow these steps to remove the chip shield.

1. Squeeze the tabs on each side of the chip shield.

2. Puff out the chip shield.

Note: To replace the chip shield, squeeze the tabson each side of the chip shield and push the shieldinto place.
