Helpful Tips to Beat the Heat this Season.

Stay Hydrated... It is important to drink

plenty of water in the summer months. Often times the feeling of thirst decreases with age, so it is important to increase daily water intake. Aim to drink 4-8 glasses a day. Also eating fruits & veggies help hydrate & keep the body healthy.

Dress for the Weather… When it is warm outside, dress in light colored clothing, loose fitting clothing. Wearing lightweight fabrics can help your skin to breath.

Be Good to your Eyes… Wearing a good pair of sunglasses outside can protect your eyes from the harmful ultraviolet rays and help prevent cataracts.

Wear Sunscreen… Try to avoid too much sun during the summer months. When you go outside make sure to wear sunscreen with SPF 15 or more.

Plan Activities Accordingly… During the day. The sun is strongest between 10am and 4pm. If you wish to enjoy the summer weather, limit your activities to morning & evening when the temperature is lower.

Review Medications… Many medications, particularly antibiotics and diuretics, affect the body’s natural ability to cope with the sun and it’s ultraviolet rays. It is important to review daily medications to help prevent dehydration and other heat-related problems.
