You should have seen my excitement when I cleared my

higher secondary (plus 2) exams! I didn’t get very brilliant marks

but at least I made it!!

Next step? College of course!

To tell you the fact, I hated English and Math and everything else. I just crammed most of my subjects, I just wanted to pass! Haven’t done so badly after all.

Thank God! I am finished with

the languages, especially English!

What next? I don’t know. Haven’t thought about it yet. Let’s see what my friends do.

I wish they didn’t have these

entrance exams! Life sucks!!

Why do they make things so difficult? All I want is a graduate certificate!

I didn’t know getting admission to a prestigious institute was so

difficult!

Anyways, glad that Dad has been able to arrange the finances for a paid Engineering seat. We’ll pay the bank instalments when I get

my job…


I’ll be away from home, but so what? Life is good!!

Pretty happening city I’ve heard. Good night life too!! It’s going to be fun…

No Mom! I’ve been studying really hard. No time Mom. I have

classes from like 6 am to midnight. Really Mom! Yes, sure, I’ll take care.

You take care. Yes, I’m good. Too much to study Mom.

That was easy…


…after three semesters and many failures!

Dad, give me a break. You’re always scolding. So what? I’ll clear it in next semester. Yes, I know I promised you last time. But it’s very tough here Dad.

I don’t want to argue with you…bye…

Why does he have to always be so difficult?

I am so sick of life! I am so sick of my institute!

I am sick of my parents hounding me!

Why did she have to leave me? Why do they have so many

subjects and so many exams? Why isn’t dad transferring money

to my account? Oh, I have a head ache from last

Anyways I don’t care… at this last minute, I have to just

cram… I’ll just attempt 5 questions…enough to pass!

Then I have those compartment exams…but that’s two weeks

away!

Look forward to the college festival next week… no I’m not going home…yes, let’s plan a

trip…yes, just six of us…it’ll be fun

Can’t believe I failed again !! After all the hard work.

I wonder why this happens to ME?

What am I going to tell Dad and Mom?

Anyways, the results weren’t great, many guys have failed.

I’ll be glad when all this education slavery is over! I will

just take up a cooool job! Travel, see the world.

Car? Of course!! EMIs are available!

and that I-Phone, I-Mac, I-Pod and I-Pad, that should be easy!

Life is good…

Wow, it’s finally over! Yes, the grades are bad!

But the bottom line is I finished. That’s what matters.

Yes, they didn’t come to our campus this year!

No recruitments happened. Anyways, I’ll get a job somewhere

Dad knows Sharma Uncle personally.

Another six months passed…

How come they didn’t tell us earlier? I didn’t know it was so bad!

They told us you’ll get picked up directly from the campus.

Why are they saying my English is poor? What has English to do with my

job performance? What kind of ridiculous theory

questions these corporate guys ask? How would I know the answers?

God…help me…


…two months later

I am shocked! They say less than 25% of Indian Engineering

Graduates get any kind of decent job. The rest? Well they are just

not employable. Reasons? a) Poor academic knowledge

and cognitive skills b) Poor communication skills and

deficiency in English language c) Poor Technical and

How I wish I could roll back the years!

I should have mastered English language and done better at my

technical studies! How I wish I had been more

studious and done better at my practicals?

My professors kept telling me. Now I regret wasting my time…

how can I ask Dad for more money?

Imagine getting paid

just Rs 10,000 per month after a B.Tech !!

I thought I would be able to go to the US! Amit finally got his H1-B visa… how we used to make fun

will suffer this consequence, unless you do something

Only 15% of the total Indian Graduates from all streams are employable


Less than 10% management graduates get core jobs like Banking, Finance, Marketing and HR


Only 7.69% MBA (Finance) students are employable in the BFSI sector, which has created a very large

number of jobs in the last decade


Only 1 out of every 4 engineers from a Engineering College in India is fit to work in any company.


Nearly 47 per cent, are not employable IN ANY SECTOR because they are deficient in English language and cognitive skills.


Out of the 3,300 management schools in India, recruiters only visit the top 1,000 institutes. For others there is simply no campus placements.


What about the rest? Unfortunately many end up not being able to use their academic talent at all…

One of the hallmarks of successful people is their conscious and consistent investment in personal and professional growth


Unfortunately there are no short-cuts in life. You cannot

cram your way to success. If you’re not sharp and good,

you may not get a second chance. Wake up before it’s too late!
