The Roman Forum is one of the most famous places in history. People come from all over the world to visit the

ancient Roman buildings at the Forum.

The Roman Forum is below street level. You will walk downa ramp at the entryway.

Many of the buildings in the Roman Forum are in ruin. There are pathways between the ruins. Please stay on the

pathways.

There are many things to see at the Forum. There are buildings, stone carvings and big statues.

Some of the buildings are in very good shape. This is the Arch of Septimus Severus. Many of its original stone

carvings still exist.

There are many places in the Forum where you are not supposed to go. See the fence around the Arch? That means you cannot enter this area. Do not play on the

fences!

This is a great place to take pictures. These people are staying behind the fence and doing a good job!

Because the statues are so old don't touch them. This man is looking at the statues but he knows not to get too close!

The Roman Forum is a serious place. People come here to see history and to learn. Please walk and use a quiet voice.

Even though it is outside, the Forum is a museum.

These are pieces of buildings that are thousands of years old. They are behind a fence so this man knows not to

touch them!

I hope you enjoy your visit to the Roman Forum. This is an important place in human history and very worth the visit!

It is very easy to walk to the Colosseum from the Roman Forum. Maybe you can visit both!

Tips For Visiting The Roman Forum In the summer the line can take more than an hour. When I took these pictures in December,there was no line. Go early for the shortest lines. During busy times the Roman Forum can be very crowded with visitors.

If someone in your group uses a wheelchair, be prepared for tough going. If you can afford it, I would recommend having a taxi drop you off as near to the entry as possible. If you must walk in, I'd suggest you invite a good strong friend to help the chair across the cobblestones and pavement changes surrounding the Roman Forum. There is a wheelchair accessible lift down to the Forum that staff will help you use. Go to the ticket booth for assistance.

The Colosseum is near the Roman Forum and both can easily be visited during the same trip.Consider using one of the books I Am Going to the Arch of Constantine or one of the obelisks for a practice outing. These are simple visits that access open air sites. That means no tickets, no lines and the simplest approaches to visit.
