Welcome Visitors

and New Parishioners We are glad you came—we are eager to

share the treasures of God with you. We

will try to help you to be comfortable, so

please do not hesitate to ask for

assistance. If the Traditional Latin Mass

is unfamiliar to you, we have green

booklets (in the vestibule) which have a

simple format and are easy to use. To

register as a parishioner, please see the

green and white forms in the Social

Room. Please create an account on our

website www.stjosephrichmond.org. If

you create an account, you will receive

the parish bulletin by email each week,

and the occasional, important email

notice from the parish office. Thank you.

Dear Parishioners,

A Joyous and Blessed Easter!

Our Lord is the Paschal Lamb of the

New Testament “who takest away the sins of

the world”. Through His death on the Cross,

He purchased for us a new life, in which we

should partake of the Body and Blood of He

who was slain for us. We should make use of

His sacramental graces to be our strength and

consolation. Today should be a reminder of our

own spiritual resurrection in Christ, presuming

we have died a spiritual death to sin. St. Paul

urges us to “purge out the old leaven”, to get rid

of sin and sinful habits.

Through sin we cut ourselves off from

God. We demonstrate our preference to do our

own will rather than that of God. Through sin,

we close the gates of Heaven which Our Lord

opened for us. Serious sin prevents the results

of Our Savior’s Passion and death from being

effective in our regard.

If we are to keep the feast of Easter in a

worthy manner, if Our Lord’s death is not to be

fruitless in our regard, then we must keep the

festival “with the unleavened bread of sincerity

and truth”. In order words, we must lead a

better life than before. If our Lent has been an

unprofitable one, if we have neglected to make

a good, sincere confession, let us rise from the

leaven of sin that we may be accounted worthy

to rise with Him on the Last Day.

God love you,

Fr. Novokowsky

ience, please make checks payable to St. Joseph’s.
