B. Ex ting Dat st earn Gene ator ossibilitiesIn this section we wish to inqui e about existing datastreamgenerators. If so, is'his feed presently operational?N/A

2. Provide details below of .its similarities and differences, from the ERDS feed:

'/A

ii. Datastream Generator Descriptiona. Is it possible using this datastream generator to output all of

the ERDS-related data points residing on this .datafeeder?

~ 0'b. Does the datastream generator output all use -defined data pointvalues in batches according to a predefined update frequencyregardless of whether the values have changed since the lastupdate, or does it output only those data point values whichhave changed since the last update?

Latest scanned or computed values are outputted. Update frequency is fixed.Data output interval is selectable.

c. If the datastream generator feeds a CRT, does the output usecursor addressing (i.e. a sequence of characters sent to the CRTand consumed by it as a command to position the cursor)?Cursor positioning for top-of-page on alpha-numeric and repeatedpositioning on graphics, plus special graphics capabilities of the CRT.

1. Does it use any other terminal-specific vertical orhorizontal-positioning commands ~ (such as vertical orhorizontal tab characters)? The underlying question is: canNRC software count linefeeds and characters between them tolocate a sought data point value?

d. What user inputs are required to display all the ERDS-related'atapoints (e.g. in the case of a CRT is it a matter of giving

a command to move to the next screenfull of data points)?Point summaries are designed primarily for parallel or serial printers.

1. If user input is required,'ow could software on the NRC sideof the ERDS link know when to supply the next input? (e-g-there is an end-of-screenfull output character, or eachscreenfull contains 24 linefeed characters).CRT reports are to be treated as single page.

2. Does the datafeeder retain and act on typed-ahead input.characters?

Yes

1. if so, please describe what each bit of 0he memory word(s) inwhich the quality tags are stored represent (e.g. bit two ofthe 16 bit word holds the boolean value for "failed rangecheck" ) . Provide documentation if possible.

See attached

f. Do a data point's engineering units always remain fixed or dochanges in the magnitude of the data point value cause a changein the engineering units prefix (e.g. the units change fromcuries to picocuries)?

'«Engineering units remain fixed.I

II

i. Does this datafeeder currently monitor changes in data pointvalues (i.e. performs exception reporting) thus making itpossible to design a datastream with only values that havechanged?

'i. Availability of data point descriptive information

a. %hat data point descriptive information, if any, is kept online(perhaps in a data point dictionary)? IV. TELECOMMUNICATIONS UES

The current NRC concept of ERDS includes rel ance on the publicswitched'phone network, and the utility's corporate phone networkas a pathway to it, for the data transmission to NRC Headquarte s.In this section we seek information about the utility's telephonesystem and the required capabilities of computer equipment tocontrol dialing attempts through it. Dialing from NRC Headquarte sto the site is also a possibility. There is concern about the .possibility of congestion in the public network, so some questionswill seek information about the possibility of using the geog aphiccoverage of the ut'lity's phone network to bypass this congestion.

A. Organization and Person Contacts

a. Give the name and phone number of the person who responds tothis part of the survey.

D. M. Mims — (93.9)836-8448

b. If the plant site is a separate corporate organization from autility, give the name and phone number of the head of telephonesystems management for the utility which manages the plantsite.

Beth'ampen - (919) 362-2537

c. Name the telephone operating company that. serves the site of thedatafeeder system(s) .

B. PABZ(s) at Site of Datafeeder Systems

a. For each site PABZ, give the manufacturer. model, and its yearof installation.

1. If yes, are pauses required to wait for dialtone(s)?

2. If yes, roughly how many different locations?

3. If not, can this ability be given administratively to a phonestation?

d. Does the PABZ have any feature that can prevent disconnect oncea connection is established?

e. In normal long distance outward dialing, does the PABX generateany special tones as feedback to 0he user (e.g. in least costrouting to signal unavailability of low cost routes)?
