TKM COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING KOLLAM-5 ACTIVITIES PROPOSED UNDER ACADEMIC AND NON ACADEMIC REFORMS IN

TEQIP-II UPTO SEPTEMBER 2013

1. Workshop on the Preparedness of Faculty on the Exercise of Autonomy It is proposed to conduct a one day workshop in the college to make the faculty prepared to exercise the autonomy. The details of the sessions are as follows. Venue : TKM College of Engineering Auditorium Date : June last week Participants : All faculty of the college Keynote Speaker : Dr. G Balachandran (Member, NR Madhava Menon Committee on Autonomy and affiliation) Head of the Department (Rtd.) Department of Botany Govt. Women’s College Vazhuthacadu, Trivandrum Deliverables : Awareness on the exercise of autonomy Stakeholder group : Faculty.

2. Committee to review the performance appraisal of faculty by students As part of the academic reforms, the evaluation of faculty performance on a periodic basis should be implemented. It is well known that in TKM College of Engineering, there is a well established system for this. But, TEQIP-II provides an opportunity to self evaluate the merits and demerits of this existing system to evolve a better option or modified system for the evaluation of faculty performance by students. It is proposed to appoint a committee of teachers for doing this exercise. The committee will be asked to prepare the report after listening to the suggestions of all the stakeholders namely students, teachers at various levels of seniority and parents. The committee will be asked to submit the draft report in July and it will be circulated for comments from the stakeholders. The final report will be approved and implemented as part of the academic reforms.

3. Brainstorming Session on the Improved Students Performance Evaluation It is proposed to conduct a one day Brainstorming session on the improved student’s performance evaluation in August. The details of the program are as follows.
