Ago, 2015 Dear Students, We would like to welcome you all to a new school year here at Instituto La Paz. We are very pleased that you have chosen our prestigious school in which to start or continue your studies. Your teachers are looking forward to guiding and working with you in a fun and enjoyable way each day, however we would like to remind you that it is quite natural to feel both nervous and apprehensive during the first few weeks but as time goes by and you get to know your new teachers and classmates those nerves will change to smiles and laughter. School is all about experiencing new things and opening your mind to the world around us, whilst developing the skills needed to interact within that world. As Dr Seuss once wrote, Oh the things you will learn, Oh the things you will see and how all of those things will make you different from me. In other words we are very different from one another but we all need each other in order to progress and in our own very special way, we must work to leave our mark on this school.

Dear Students,

We would like to welcome you all to a new school year here at Instituto La Paz.

As Dr Seuss once wrote, Oh the things you will learn, Oh the things you will see and how all of those things will make you different from me.In other words we are very different from one another but we all need each other in order to progress and in our own very special way, we must work to leave our mark on this school.

This could be in the form of the long lasting friendships you will make or the way that you debate in order to make the world a better place during PAZMUN. It could be from the sports you will play and perfect to simply reading at our picnics together.

However we are certain of one thing, not only will we inspire all of you, but that you will inspire all of us at Instituto La Paz to achieve greater things.

So study hard, play fair, compete and have fun for you are all now welcome and we have work to be done.

Kind Regards FromAll of the staff at Instituto La Paz

MICHAEL BOND

Michael Bond was born in Newbury, Berkshire, England on 13th January 1926. He was educated at Presentation College, Reading. During World War II he served in both the Royal Air Force and the Middlesex Regiment of the British Army.

He began writing in 1945 and sold his first short story to a magazine called London Opinion. This experience helped him decide that he wanted to be a writer. Michael Bond never thought of writing for children but, after producing a number of short stories and radio plays, his agent suggested that he adapt a television play for children.

His first book, A Bear Called Paddington, was published in 1958 by William Collins & Sons (now HarperCollins Publishers). At the time, he was working as a television cameraman for the BBC.

After the first Paddington book was accepted, he went on to write a whole series and by 1965 his books were so successful that he was able to give up his job with the BBC in order to become a full-time writer.

Pop into our Library and check out one of his books or read them online by using your HPL card.

Guacamole Chicken Wraps

Kids will love these creamy, heart-healthy wraps. Lettuce leaves line the tortillas, keeping the wraps fresh in a lunchbox, and lime juice prevents the guacamole from getting discolored. Swap to whole-wheat wraps for a boost of fiber.
