Agenda

i-Models - Definition

Bentley System’s approach to addressing interoperability is based on a federated strategy and supports information exchange using an application-neutral container, i.e., i-models.

•Immutable, read-only, 2D or 3D •Portable, Purpose Fit for Sharing and Distribution •Support DRM and Digital Signatures •Not a substitute for Industry Standards

•IFC, LandXML, ISO15296…but you can store those data types IN an i-model •Print to PDF from an i-Model

Bentley View - Free

i-Models – What can one do with it? – Bentley View

i-Models – What can one do with it? – Bentley View

Print i-model to 3D PDF via Bentley View with Property data included

i-Models – What can one do with it?

Bentley Navigator – View, Review/Markup, Clash, Animate

i-Models – Navigator – View/Analyze

Review the intelligence of all components – All parameters come over

i-Models – Navigator – View/Analyze

Review the intelligence of all components – View tools to highlight / zoom Grid view to see all items

i-Models – Navigator – View/Analyze

Search tools combined with Visual review tools (isolate, transparency, zoom)

i-Models – Navigator – View/Analyze

Search tools combined with Visual review tools (isolate, transparency, zoom)

i-Models – Navigator – View / Render

Full photo-realistic rendering using Luxology

i-Models – Navigator – Markup

Create mark-ups within the same environment

i-Models – Navigator – Markup

Create mark-ups within the same environment

i-Models – Navigator – Markup

Create markup with access for all Use the Marker to Open, View or Preview

i-Models – Navigator – Clash

•Create the job from References, Levels, and/or Item Sets/Groups •Apply Suppression Rules •Review Results

i-Models – Navigator – Clash

•Create the job from References, Levels, and/or Item Sets/Groups •Apply Suppression Rules •Review Results

i-Models – Navigator – Clash

•Create the job from References, Levels, and/or Item Sets/Groups •Apply Suppression Rules •Review Results

i-Models – Navigator – Clash

•Group clashes together from clashing items

i-Models – Navigator – Clash

•Clearing the group or statusing the group affects all

i-Models – Navigator – Clash

•Create Markups from Clashes

i-Models – Navigator – Simulation

•Schedule Simulation – apply time to elements

i-Models – Navigator – Simulation

•Schedule Simulation – file types from Help File

i-Models – iWare for iModel usage in other Apps

i-Models – Excel

•Open / Pull data from an i-model to a spreadsheet

i-Models – Excel

i-Models – Access

•Open / Pull data from an i-model to a database

i-Models – Transformation

•The process to modify, augment, and republish i-models

Transform Description Aggregate Items Performs aggregate operations like: AVERAGE, SUM, COUNT Associate Items Generate relationships between items in an i-model

Export to Dgn Export an i-model to a DGN file (if export rights are granted in source i-model)

Export to Excel Export an i-model to an Excel spreadsheet

Filter Items Filter items in an i-model

Import from Excel Generate an i-model from an Excel Spreadsheet

Infer Properties Populate property values on items in an i-model

Import Items Import the items from one i-model into another i-model

Map Schemas Transform the data in an i-model based on schema mappings

Import Schema Import a schema from one i-model into another i-model

Update Schema Transform the data in an i-model based on an updated revision of its schema

i-Models – Transformation – Filter

•Remove intelligence for purpose built i-models / purpose delivered

i-Models – Transformation – Augment

•Add intelligence for purpose built i-models / purpose delivered

i-Models – i-Model Composer

•Assemble and publish multiple file types

i-Models – i-Model Composer

•Assemble and publish multiple file types

Keep files referenced together for easy update of individual files OR Package as one single file, with Protection, Rights, and Expiration Date

i-Models – i-Model Composer

•Filter and rename properties on publish

i-Models – i-Model Composer

•Assemble and publish multiple file types – package as a whole

RFA Interpreter

•The ability to pull RFA content into ABD without using Revit

The RFA Interpreter in AECOsim Building Designer WILL allow the RFA to:

•Access and select the types defined within the RFA •Retain its native parametric behaviors and properties, which will be exercisable in AECOsim Building Designer (such as lengths and angles) •Retain its business properties (Such as manufacturer, catalog number, and fire rating) •Retain its perforator, to allow content to cut openings (such as doors and windows) •Retain its mechanical & plumbing connection points (for air handlers, plumbing fixtures, etc.) •Retain its 2D plan and elevation symbols •Register itself with the DataGroup Catalog, mapping its business and parametric properties to counterparts in AECOsim Building Designer •Map RFA attributes to ABD symbology and/or Part & Family •Behave like a native ABD element (similar to BXF or PAZ) •Support RFA content versions 2009-2014

RFA Interpreter

•The ability to pull RFA content into ABD without using Revit

The RFA interpreter in AECOsim Building Designer WILL NOT support:

•Revit system types (walls, curtain wall, stairs, etc..) •2D only RFAs (title blocks tags, profiles, etc..) •Embedded formats (DWG, SKP, etc. placed inside the RFA) •Changing the original RFA definition

Navigator Mobile

•Review i-models and docs from your mobile device
