Dear Indian Hills Families,
Welcome back to school! It has been such a joy to welcome back all of
our returning families and also to get to know so many of our new
families in the past week. The first days of the school year are typically
filled with excitement and anticipation of what is to come, and it is
always so wonderful to see how the jitters melt away into a sense of
comfort as relationships are built and routines established.
We are ready to guide our students toward great success academically
and socially this year. This is our third year as an official Leader in Me
school, and our academic focus will center on setting and working
toward WIGs - Wildly Important Goals. You can support this effort by
helping your child establish routines at home to practice their Lead
Measures (the action steps they’ll take to achieve their goals). Our
school-wide theme this year is Bulldog Pride. We think this theme
perfectly captures what a special community we have and how we aim
to support our students in all facets of their growth as responsible,
caring, and hard-working members of this special community. We
kicked off this year’s focus with a lively school-wide assembly today.
Watch for more information about our academic and social growth
initiatives from your child’s teacher this year.
With Indian Hills Pride,
Lisa Wujczyk

“Welcome to Bulldog Country”
Have you seen our lower elementary hallway yet?
If so, then you have gotten to see our “Welcome to Bulldog Country” mural in person! We are so proud of the
creativity, planning, and dedicated efforts on the part of our staff members, parents, and students who all designed
and painted the mural, which spans both sides of the entire hallway.
The mural is an ode to our community, with many Washington Twp. & Romeo landmarks represented.
Teacher’s classrooms are designed to look like fun and colorful storefronts from a child’s perspective.
One section of our mural is a tribute to IH Bulldogs who have been lost too soon. Family members got to paint a special design to represent their loved one.
Do you want to show your support for this project?
Staff members and families who helped with the project got to paint their
names on a brick in our mural. If you were not able to directly help paint,
but still want to show your support for this project, we invite you to “Buy
a Brick.” For a tax-deductible donation of $75 or more, your family can
paint your family name on a brick, which will be shown prominently in
our mural for years to come. Don’t delay! Bricks are limited!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name: ________________________________ Contact Phone Number: _______________________
______ Yes, we’d like to “Buy a Brick” to support the mural project! (Please enclose payment of
$75. Checks should be made payable to “Indian Hills Elementary”)
______ We’d like IH staff to paint our family name on the brick. The brick should say:
_______________________________ (ie - Smith Family, The Smiths, Smith Kids)
_____ We’d like to paint our name ourselves! (A staff member will call you to schedule a time).

Indian Hills is proud to be an official Leader in Me School. Leader in Me is a school-wide process through which all
students build habits of leadership. All classrooms are teaching Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Happy Kids through a
comprehensive educational program on leadership that ties right in with our rigorous curriculum in all subjects.
We’ll work together to empower students to lead in new ways with their peers, in their classroom, and across our
school. Students are encouraged to share their ideas and lead the way in making Indian Hills and our community
even safer, happier, and stronger. The following slideshow has more helpful information about the Leader in Me.
