Both plead guilty to having licpior in their possession. Branck was fined #100 and Weis $15. —x— Earl Buffon was taken*in charge last Friday by Sheriff Orr and committed to the state hospital for the insane at Salem. Buffon came from Hoquiam, Wash., and bad been here but u few hours when complaint was made to the sheriff. —x— ~ Dr. H. G. Dunsmore has received official notice of his rejection for a secretaryship in tire Y. M. C. A. for eign service, but still undaunted he is going to make another attempt and fry to have his application again considered. Halls Ferry News in Salem Jour mil: It is reported that J. N. Jones, our road supervisor, has taken up with the county court the question of installing a ferry here for the purpose of securing gravel for this end of the road. This action on the part of Mr. Jones will he welcomed by the people of this community who have long suffered on account of the high price of gravel at the same time we have a billion tons just across on Budd’s Inland and all that is needed is a ferry. The claim is made by some of the tax payers (hat the difference in the cost of the haul in one year be tween here, and the old Manutck pit will pay for the boat.
