"I haven't competed in eight days, and when you get down to this point in the season, that's not good," she said. I didn't thing about the records, I was just trying to get the best performance possi- ble under the conditions." "The first three jumps nobody was getting their steps off," said Jones to Phil Wong (San Francisco Examiner). 'Everything came together on that throw-- the speed, the timing, everything my coaches have taught me. I was really relaxed out there. I knew the other throwers and we were out her to have fun. The discus puts less stress on me than the shot. I was happy to see all the time and effort payoff." "It was just smooth. Everything was start- ing to come together," said Heaston to Wong.
