1.4 ACCESS

Trench Mapping Connaught Township

The property is accessible by a logging road off of Hwy. 560 at km 37. The logging road heads north and starts approximately 400m south- west of Shining Tree.

1.5 GENERAL GEOLOGY

The Elephant Head property lies in the south western portion of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt. Consolidated rocks in the area are of early, middle and late Precambrian age. The basement rocks are comprised of a suite of subalkalic to alkalic metavolcanics, interlayered with mafic to ultramafic rocks and both chemical and clastic metasediments.

A diabase dyke trending north-west to north-east crosses the township cuttin£1 all rock units. Several major faults (sinistral wrenching faults) striking north to north-west pass through thE~ region which are considered part of the Onaping Lineament (Mullan, 1994).

1.6 Pf~EVIOUS WORK

1957 - Pioneer Consultants put in 4 diamond drill holes, 3 near the main showing and 1 on the south side of Elephant Creek at an iron formation.

1961 - A prospector named Mclean drilled 6 shallow holes, 2 near the main showing and 4 on the south side of Elephant Creek testing an iron formation.

1971 - Royal Agassiz Mines blasted out a "new showing" said to assay 10.8% Cu, 4.9% oz/t Ag, 0.1 oz/t Au. In a massive sulphide section disseminated wall rock as.sayed 0.07 oz/t Au, 1.52 % Cu.

1975 - Texasgulf conducted HEM and mag regional aE:!rial surveys.

1981-1983 - Timmins Gold assayed by Narex Ore Search reported 5.12% Cu over 8' width.

October 1983 - Onatip Mines Ltd had Narex Ore Search conduct geophysical surveys (Mag and VLF) showing moderate strength EM and strong mag-high.

December 1988 - Actuate Resources Inc. had ACA Howe conduct a mag survey in the area.

December 1989 - Trinity Explorations staked 20 (1 unit) Giaims staked covering Elephant Head Lake showing with the objective to investigate potential VMS type targets based on the description of mineralization and local geology by Narex Ore Search.

April '1991 - Trinity Exploration completed airborne sUrvE!yS (mag &VLF) and found 14 anomalies outlined, mag high over known sllowing.

1993·- Trinity Explorations had 13 miles of lines cut and completed mag, VLF, Max Min surveys done in the area. Geological mapping and prospecting were also done on the property.

(Mullan, 1994)

2. W()RK UNDERTAKEN

2.1 PERSONNEL

Collection of field data was performed August 18 to August 21 by Laurie Morin of Ottawa and Amanda Rungis of Timmins. All are Geological Technicians with diplomas from Sir Sanford Fleming College. The map renderings were completed by Laurie Morin and Amanda Rungis.

2.2 PURPOSE

The main purpose of the trenching and mapping was to collect samples for analysis. As well as to identify both structure and rock type displayed in the excavated area. This would allow for a basic understating of surrounding bedrock and allow follow-up programs to be designed around the conclusions generated in the mapping process.

3. MAPPING AND NOTES

Trench Mapping Connaught Township

ALL SAMPLES WERE TAKEN FOR REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY! NO SAMPLES HAVE BEEN SENT TO LAB FOR ANALYSIS.

3.1 LOCATION

A total of 2 strippings where completed on the Elephant Head property. The UTM's of the strippings are indicated in the following table:

Table 1: Trench location

Stripping Name Beginning UTM End UTM --

Elephant Head Stripping 1 17T 4716595271550 17T 4716585271671 Elepha!'Jt Head Saville Strip~ 17T 4714125271412 17T 4714375271429

3.2 SIZE

The following is an approximation as to the general dimensions of the rock material exposed during the strippin9 process:

3.3 STRUCTURE AND LITHOLOGY

Elephant Head Stripping 1

Dimensions 146m X 45m 30m X 30m --

The stripping process exposed rock that was formed by felsic volcanic flow called rhyolite. The material is fined grained and massive in nature. The exposed rock contains some small quartz veins and pyrite was present along cracks and veining in the rock. In the middle of the stripping there is a section of

rhyolite that contains small white and gray feldspar spots. This stripping is jointed and fractured in many areas.

The material excavated from on top of the rock material was a silty sand, brown in colour. The material also contains gravel and cobbles.

Saville Stripping

The Saville stripping is also predominantly felsic volcanic rock called rhyoli1e, containing a high percentage of carbonate and silica. There appears to be metamorphic folding along the west side and center of the striped area. In the middle of the exposure there is a mafic-felsic contact striking north-west to southeast, where the rhyolite is lying up against a strong band of an iron formation. The iron formation is approximately 3.5m wide and contains significant mineralization including magnetite, chalcopyrite, pyrite, bornite, malachite and azurite .. An old trench has been blasted in the iron formation and is indicated on the bedrock map.

The material excavated from on top of the rock material was a silty sand, brown in colour. The material also contains some gravel and cobbles. The vegetation in the area is mostly pine and birch stands. There are extensive loggin!) operations in progress in thE~ surrounding area.

EC

There appears to be a significant potential of the property to host economic sulphide deposits and/or potential for quartz vein type gold mineralization. The property merits follow-up by detailed geophysical surveys, further stripping and a substantial diamond drilling program.
