Happy Easter In school, we celebrated Easter with lots of

fantastic games and activities. Easter Day is the

time where family get together to celebtrate

and embrace the joy of re-birth and hope.

Parents were invited to see the children’s

Easter Bonnet Parade.Our adorable Easter

bonne were created by our talented parents

and children. They shared some quality time

together.

An “Easteriffic” Fun 4.19It was an Esteriffic day where children do

not only gain culture knowledge but most

importantly, to value differences and discover

similarities, which is very much in line with

Montessori’s advocacy of peace education

for children. To foster patience, tolerance,

and cooperative learning, activities were

conducted in and outside of the classroom.

Children were also exposed to making various

Easter art and crafts gearing towards the

celebration.

Alumni group were greeted by teachers in the

Montessori Academy. We prepared lots of fun activities

for them. There are various programs like physical

training, dancing and cooking in the Casa class. We ended

off by celebrating a birthday party for 3 of the kids in

true Montessori style with the Montessori Birthday Ring.

Swimming Class The weather is getting warmer as summer approaches and that means, it’s

time for swimming at Shanghai Greenhills campus. All our students were so

excited to suit up and jump into the pool! Besides being good exercise, and a

great chance to practice a new skill, swimming days allow children to practice

a myriad of practical life skills, including dressing, changing, taking a shower,

grooming, as well as how to be safe around water.

Montessori Science FairOn June 3th, children from the Yuhu Community came to join us at The

Montessori Science Fair! They spent a joyful morning exploring the wonderful

world of science and enjoyed many exciting experiments. The scientific

experiments we displayed were just "the tip of the iceberg" of Montessori

Education. If you want to know more we will see you at Montessori Academy!

We accept parents' enquiry and visit from June.

Happy Children's DayEarly summer in June, teachers of Hangzhou Campus organized the parent-

child activities in the community and they follow the footsteps of the child

gently. How wonderful it is the voice of the child. Look! See the confidence

and focus in their eyes. When children are allowed to make efforts on their

own, they will find a fresh and interesting new world.

Hangzhou Campus Happy Father's Day It is said that father’s love is like a mountain, heavy and

silent. It’s heavy because he gives all his love to us and

it’s silent because he does not know how to express it.

Children spent a joyful day celebrating Father's Day in MA!

Fun Children’s Day At last weekend, we jointly organized the event with

Porsche. Families enjoyed different Chinese traditional

activities such as dragon boat racing game, perfume

pouch/necklace making, cultural class etc. The children also

had the opportunity to work with some real work using

the Montessori materials. They enjoyed the session with

our MA teachers.

It's not to say goodbye...Montessori education is about holistically building children. Our six year old graduates leave us each year with an understanding of themselves as humans in our big and ever changing world, ready to face the next challenge of primary school. But the skills they learn in these early years are an essential foundation to further learning throughout life.

I can clearly remember two years ago, when the first time we

visited this kindergarten, we were so upset for the decision to

change kindergarten for my daughter - Caroline.

But we were surprised that she quickly adapted to the totally

new environment, attributed to our magical and caring teachers.

As parents who love our kid so much, we truly appreciate this.

All of these teachers and other lovely kids' accompany are

appreciated, they are really very kind and positive, and which

is most important is that all of these make my daughter and us

more matured, confident, grateful. I never thought there will be

such a magical place that can make people feel so happy and safe.

Caroline's parent

I feel thankful to Montessori Academy in which they

exceeded my expectation, not only in the area of safety,

health and sanitation, but also a caring environment about

kids’ growth. When I was worried about the admission

of my son's transition into primary school, not only the

teacher but also the campus principal give me practical

suggestions.

Demi's parent

Congratulations on your very f irst graduation. I'm so

proud of you. There is a wonderful and brighter future

beyond for you to explore. May God's wisdom always be

with you and lead you in the path of uprightness.

It is honor to attend my daughter’s first graduation ceremony. Every time I saw

Yangyang grow beyond our expectation, I feel so proud of her and I wish her to

have a better future. I feel thankful to Montessori Academy as Yangyang received the

most professional Montessori education here. Every teacher cares yangyang as their

own child, even the healthcare and logistics staff. In Montessori Academy, yangyang

is most elder kid in her classroom so that she enjoyed taking responsibility for taking

care her younger sisters/brothers, helping them to wear shoes, prepare foods. Today

is a milestone for yangyang. I hope the love, sense of responsibility and all the skills

and knowledge she gets in Montessori Academy could be along with further life.

To celebrate the International Children's

Day and the Dragon Boat Festival, we

organized families from our kindergartens

as well as our staff families to have a special

experience in Glory Garden during the holiday.

We prepared tasty food, fantastic outdoor

activities and nature exploration. Parents

and children experienced vegetable planting

and fruit picking after morning snack. They

visited the Bird Park and learned many kinds

of birds that are rarely seen in the city. They

also got a lot fun by feeding rabbits, sheep

and visiting lovely ponies, alpaca. They had a

special memorable day in the farmland.

“Glory Garden” is a paradise of nature.

The air here is saturated with the fragrance

from the soil, the aroma from the lawn and

the radiance from the river. The Mother

Earth is extending her arms to our dearest

children. Best of all, there is an exclusive

field for the children from Montessori

Academy.

It was an absolute pleasure for the teachers from different

campuses to spend quality time together, exploring the Montessori

English language curriculum. The purpose of this professional

development which lasted two weeks was to explore how to

adequately and successfully implement the Montessori philosophy

and curriculum in the toddler and Early Child classrooms. We

strongly believe as an educational institution that it is extremely

essential for the teachers to meet regularly to learn new ideas;

and to also share thoughts so the children can continue to benefit

immensely from our Montessori program.

During two-week session, we developed a series of topics

regarding Toddler teaching and tools required to be successful.

We started with a look into observation, discussing what to look

for when observing, and doing practical observation sessions and

learning how to get the most out of our observations. Next up

was setting a beautiful, pleasing and stimulating Environment. Here

our teachers looked at different environments and discussed the

strong points and weak points in each classroom. Meanwhile, we

covered the all-important area of Parent Communication, looking

at the importance of building a healthy communication system, and

exploring different ways of doing that.

Overall, we had a great time together and are looking forward to

working with the children, and to help them acquire the necessary

skills.

1. Stay SafeChildren may be infected with contagious

diseases. If you are concerned about

possible exposure to contagious disease,

do practice universal precautions and wear

personal protective equipment, if available.

How To Do CPR on a Child

2. Try to Wake the ChildGently tap or shake the child's shoulders

and meanwhile call out his or her name in

a loud voice. Don't hurt the child, but be

active - It means that you're trying to check

if he or she is concious.

If the child is not concious, have someone

call 120 immediately. If no one else is

available to call 120 and the child is not

breathing, continue to step 3 and do CPR

for about 2 minutes before calling 120.

First Aid Training

Safety is the most important aspect in the school

environment. The f irst few minutes after an

injury or medical emergency are the most crucial to

determine the rate and duration of recovery. Knowing

what to do in the event of an injury or emergency will

help you stay calm and take the proper actions and

precautions to help the victim have the best chances

of a full recovery.

Montessori Academy organized the rescue training

for our staff and teachers in each campus. We trained

every staff to be confident in their CPR and first Aid

skills needed to respond to any emergency situation

and to enable prompt, confident and effective action

in the event of an emergency whether at work, home,

outdoors or in an extreme environment.

3. Begin chest compressionsIf the child is not breathing, put one hand

on the breastbone directly between the

child's nipples. Push straight down about 2

inches - or about a third of the thickness of

the child's chest - and then let the chest all

the way back up. Do that 30 times, about

twice per second.

If you've been trained in CPR and you

remember how to give rescue breaths, go

to step 4. If not, do not worry, just keep

doing chest compressions and then go to

step 5.

4. Give the child two breathsAfter pushing on the chest 30 times, cover

the child's mouth with your mouth and

pinch his nose closed with your fingers.

Gently blow until you see his chest rise.

Let the air escape -- the chest will go back

down -- and give one more breathe.

If no air goes in when you try to blow,

adjust the child's head and try again. If that

doesn't work, then skip it and go back

to chest compressions (step 3), you can

try rescue breaths again after 30 more

compressions.

5. Keep doing CPR and call 120 after 2 minutesIf you are by yourself, keep doing CPR for 2

minutes (about 5 groups of compressions)

before calling 120. If someone else is there

or comes along as you are doing CPR, have

that person call 120. Even if the child wakes

up, you need to call 120 any time you had

to do CPR.

Once 120 have been called or you have

someone else calling, keep doing CPR.

Don't stop until help arrives or the child is

concious.

There is a special team who works here

at Montessori Academy. They are HSE.

Interestingly, it is not common for other

kindergartens to set up this unit. However,

each kindergarten must pay close attention

to this area every day.

What is HSE? This is health, safety and

environment. How do we make the kids

grow more healthily in our kindergarten?

Kindergarten Guardians-HSE

How do we make our kindergarten

much safer in the area of food,

school buses , f ire protec t ion

and air qual ity , even campus

security? How do we make our

kindergarten environment more

suitable for children’s life, learning

and entertainment? Answers to

these questions are thought out by

members of the HSE’s work every

day. These issues come first when parents

visit the school and kindergartens.

As a parent, you may have concerns in the following areas:

Does the quality of the constructional

materials meet the national regulations

and rules? Is the structural strength of

building strong enough?

Is it safe for children and teachers to

use the elevator every day? Does it get

maintained regularly?

Are the wooden furniture, desks and

chairs that we purchased eco-friendly to

the environment and students? Does the

indoor air quality meet the government

requirement after the classroom and

building have been furnished?

Does the decoration ropes used meet

fire safety requirements and have flame-

retardant properties?

Are the school buses we provide safe for

the students?

Are the indoor equipment that are

easy to cause injury to children’s, well

Are the outdoor entertainment facilities

Are the Equipment and facilities of the

the structural strength of kindergarten

Organize the corresponding safety training

so that our teachers can master the

necessary skills, such as basic first-aid, fire

evacuation, anti-invasion drills and so on.

Check the school bus’s condition, evaluate

bus drivers’ routine work to make sure

that kids are picked up and sent to school

safely. Ensure the teachers in the bus take

A lot gets done by the HSE team. From the introduction and pictures

Montessori Academy - Shanghai Lingshan CampusThe Montessori Academy (Lingshan Campus) was founded in 2005, creating a unique full immersion Mandarin or English Curriculum. The

Mandarin program has a great reputation; everything is taught with a western approach and children develop at their own pace. Our small,

mixed-age classes support the Montessori philosophy. Stability and consistency among the teaching staff ensure a comfortable and nurturing

environment. Children will reach language proficiency similar to a native speaker. Spacious classrooms, a big indoor and outdoor playground

give lots of space to explore and learn.
