S&P 500
The announcement of an effective vaccine against the Co-vid-19 pandemic caused a fireworks display on the inter-national stock markets. There is an exception with stocks and industries that are not affected by the pandemic at all or have even benefited recently - both in terms of busi-ness development and share price. There was, however, widespread demand for shares that had recently lagged far behind, e.g. from the tourism industry. All in all, the strength of cyclical stocks ensured that the S&P-500 even marked a new all-time high, thus, de facto, providing the starting signal for the year-end rally. In conclusion: The stock market is trading the future - and the future is much more positive than the present.
eToro-Sentiment: Buying: 61%
Dear readers,
The prospects for an end to the pandemic have improved significantly in the last week. The vaccine developed by the Mainz-based biotech company BionTech collaborating with US partner Pfizer has given the markets and industries that were particularly affected by the Corona virus a sigh of relief. BionTech chief executive Ugur Sahin predicts a normal winter 2021/2022, if enough people are sufficiently vaccinated. Since we are even expecting further vaccines shortly, the probability of this prediction is increasing. From this point of view, companies and investors can look into the future with more optimism.
Setting the course for the future in AsiaAdditionally, what has been stimulating the markets at the start of the week are promising reports from Asia. After eight long years of negotiations, se-veral countries (including China, Japan and South Korea) have agreed on the largest free trade zone in the world. Very strong economic data from China complement the positive picture from Asia. At least for China, a V-shaped recovery is actually transpiring in the meantime. One reason for caution remains, of course, the pending outcomes of the US presidential election. Donald Trump is still fighting doggedly to remain in office. Sincerely yours,
Mick Knauff Jürgen Schmitt

Social-Investor Stock of the week
Just over a year ago, we added the Chinese social media giant Tencent with the launch of our Social Investor Portfolio and we are now recor-ding roughly 70% in profit. Even though Tencent is often referred to as the Chinese Facebook, they offer much more. Tencent‘s operational activities cover many areas. In China, the company is the number one in social media, the market leader in music streaming, the gaming sector, the mobile payment sector and, last but not least, the top dog in the venture capital busi-ness. All areas are interconnected and offer attractive synergies and cross-selling effects. The long-term prospects are therefore excel-lent, even though Chinese internet stocks have recently come under pressure.
Chinese regulatory authorities want to prevent mono-polistic practices
The Chinese government has issued regulations to prevent monopolis-tic practices in the internet industry. However, it must be clearly stated that Beijing also knows that China has the best chances of outperfor-ming Europe and the USA, especially in the technology sector. This in-cludes internationally „competitive“ market capitalizations and it is also a matter of investments and acquisitions. Tencent, which presented current quarterly figures last week, is very successful in this respect. These figures turned out to be really excellent. Sales in the third quarter increased by a hefty 29% year-on-year to ¥125.45 billion or around $18.4 billion. The operating result jumped 34% to ¥38.12 billion or just under $5.6 billion.
In China, very little is possible without the social media giant Tencent
These are of course impressive figures in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. Even below the line, Tencent was able to significantly im-prove its net result by 32% to ¥33.33 billion or $4.89 billion. Ma Hu-ateng, CEO of Tencent was visibly enthusiastic: „This quarter marked the second anniversary of our strategic organization upgrade, which was intended to enhance our strength in Consumer Internet and ex-tend our presence to Industrial Internet. While the upgrade was de-

signed to bear fruit over the longer run, we are already seeing initial benefits in areas such as consolidating our advertising services, reju-venating our product and content platforms, growing our cloud and SaaS businesses and building an internal open source code base. In the face of public health, macroeconomic, and geopolitical challen-ges, we will seek to sharpen our focus, innovate, and collaborate with our partners in order to better serve our users, customers and the society at large.“
In the venture capital business, successful IPOs in the coming year could boost the share
In view of the promising venture capital business, the planned IPO of Didi, among others, should bring fresh capital to the company. The Chinese clone off Uber, which is financed by Tencent as well as Softbank and Alibaba, is aiming for an IPO in Hong Kong next year. In a new financing round, the valuation level is to be raised to $60 billion. Although the exact amount of the Tencent stake is unknown it is estimated to be a low double-digit billion amount on a valuation basis of around $80 billion in the course of the IPO.
In conclusion: Despite all discussions about the new guidelines for the con-tainment of monopolistic practices, the Tencent share was able to increase again according to the latest figures and is currently tending towards an all-time high. From a technical point of view, the lights are still green. From a fundamental point of view, we feel positive about the future as well. In the future, Tencent will continue to grow and thrive in a somewhat more regulated envi-ronment. This is where we need to be. Those who have not yet invested should use price weaknesses as an entry point.
