Bogie hopper wagon type BCBFG for bulk transportation of food grains has beeD. developed jointly by RDSO & Mis. RITES Ltd. The wagon design incorporates Casnub 22 HS MOD-I bogie, non-transition CLI:, single pipe gradmll:-d r'2'lease air brake system \ovithautomatic load sensing device. The leading particulars of the wagon are indicated in RITES Ltd. Drawing No. RSD-6337-052 Alt. 3. 11 To assess the speed potential of 'BCBFG' with Casnub 22HS MOD-I bogie has subjected to oscillation trials. The results were published in report No. MT -919fF Rev-O krnendment- Nil dated 13.02.2009. The results indicated that BCBFG wagon has exhibited satisfactory riding characteristics up to a test speed of 85 kmph in empty and loaded conditions on straight track, station yards and on 2° curves over Gomoh - Barka...lzana section of East CeD.tralRailway. 20 Based on the results of oscillation trial as contained in the report, it is certified that BCBFG wagon may be pem1itted to run up to a maximum speed of 75 kmph in empty and loaded conditions on circuit 1 & 2 as per Railway Boards letter No 2006/ TqFM)/18/1 dated 27.04.2006, which include:

Superstructures & bearings of non- standard spans including Arches and sub-structures of all bridges are to be examined under the directions of the ChiefBridge Engineer concerned and certified safe by him in tenns of current IRSBridge Rules, Steel Bridge Code,' Concrete Bridge Code, Arch Bridge Code,Bridge Sub-Structures and Foundation Code etc. read with up-to-date correctionSilpS.

The clearance is subject to the following parameters of special wagon:-(1) Maximum axle load (empty) = 6.61 t(ii) Maximum axle load (loaded) = 21.82 t(iii) Track loading density (gross) = 6.82 tlm(iv) Maximum breaking force = 10% of axle load(v) e.G. height from raillevei (empty) = 1130 mm(vi) C.G. height from rail level (loaded) = 2182 mm

::.::.; 1 For double headed operation in loaded condition track on bridges and approachesof BGML spans 63.0m & 78.8m (both effective) shall be strengthened ormodified in such a way so as to allow for dispersion of longitudinal force as perclause 2.8.3.2 of IRS Bridge Rules. In cases where dispersion cannot be alJowedas per clause 2.8.3.2 such as due to provision of SEJ in bridges etc. the bridgesuperstructure including bearings and sub -structure shall be checked forlOI"igitudin2.lforce \-vithout dispersioil ,md certified safe by the Chief BridgeEngineer concerned.

Thewagon is to be attached to air braked goods train and the extant instructionsof RaIlway Board regarding brake power of trains to be followed.

Traction Installation

In 25 kV a.c. traction area, the CEE of the Railway sha11have to ensure that t.heminimum height of contact wire and electrical clearances as stipulated inprovisiOn of Chapter -v and V-A, electric Traction "Schedule of Dimension of1676 mill gauge (BG) revised 2004" is not violated and strictly followed to ensu,eIts safe running

It will be ensured that the moment of wagon (whether empty or loaded) should bepennitted with Hatch cover (lid) in locked condition only. No movement shall beallowed in open condition of hatch cover in the electritled section

General

All the permanent and temporary speed restrictions in force and those that may beimposed from time to time due to track, bridges curves signalling and'1'!e.--10cki!1getc. sha11be observed.

The wagon shall be allO\ved to m()ve only on non-platform lines while passing(lifOu':?ftstation yards on non-electrified sectioIiS.

The design of the wagon infringes clause 29 of Chapter lV (A) ofBG Schedule ofDImensiOns Revised 2004 as shown in diagram 1 A. The infringement has beencondoned by Railway Board vide their letter No. 2006/CEDO/SRi12 dated21 05 2007 (copy enclosed).
