IBDIPLOMAREQUIREMENTS
TheIBdiplomaisawardedbasedonperformanceacrossallpartsoftheDiplomaProgramme.Atotalofsixsubjectsmustbestudied,withacombinationofstandardandhigherlevels(SLandHL).Studentsmustalsocompletethe“core”,whichismadeupofcreativity,activity,service(CAS),theoryofknowledge(TOK)andextendedessay(EE).
Eachsubjectisgraded1–7,with7beingthehighestgrade.Thesegradesarealsousedaspoints(thatis,7pointsforagrade7,andsoon)indeterminingifthediplomacanbeawarded.TOKandtheEEaregradedA–E,withAbeingthehighestgrade.Thesetwogradesarethencombinedinthediplomapointsmatrixtocontributebetween0and3pointstothetotal.CASisnotassessedbutmustbecompletedinordertopassthediploma.TheoverallmaximumpointsfromsubjectgradesandTOK/EEistherefore45((6Å~7)+3).Theminimumthresholdforcompletingtheprogrammeis24points,belowwhichthediplomaisnotawarded.Theadditionalrequirementsarethefollowing.
