How to apply?
In 9 Steps!

5 Complete the gaps with your University information.
6 Section/Region • Latin America Region
5 Faculty Advisor information He/She will must commit to the program and be responsible for the team’s preparation and participation.
6 Secondary Contact Could be an industry professional and will provide advice on presentation content and encourage students to consider alternative ways to approach the tasks required by the program.
7 Team members information
• Teams should be composed of Masters (or equivalent) level students, including combined BS/MS programs.
• In exceptional circumstances teams may have up to two geoscience PhD students. No student should have more than three years of postgraduate geoscience (or related field) experience.
• No more than two undergraduate students are allowed to participate in each team unless circumstances dictate that an exception to this rule is warranted (e.g. Regions that have few or no Masters Level or equivalent programs).*

• Submit names for up to five (5) students that will comprise your team.
• If you already have your team participants information, you can add it below by clicking the Add Participant button.

Section 3, Paragraph 6 of the IBA Rules and Operational Procedures states: • Teams should be composed of Masters
(or equivalent) level students; however in exceptional circumstances teams may have up to two PhD students.
• Undergraduate students are not allowed to participate unless circumstances dictate that an exception to this rule is warranted (e.g. Regions that have few or no Masters Level or equivalent programs).
• If such a situation does occur, the Region or
Section Coordinator is to notify the IBA Committee Chair to secure IBA Committee permission for the undergraduate(s) to participate using the Request for Team Member(s) Exception form.
8 Software to be used
• Specify the primary computer software to be used in the competition to investigate the data set. Please contact your local coordinator for answers about technical issues. IF YOU NEED TO REQUEST SOFTWARE, DON’T WAIT! December and January are bad times to seek software or license renewal.
9 Submit
• The form will be submitted to Mike Mlynek, AAPG Assistant Manager Member Services.
